Had to drop a few thousand feet to catch the tailwinds. Went pretty good. Going to have a quick turnaround for the next leg

A top up of fuel then heading for one of three airports in Indonesia, depending on winds.

Decided to land at H Hasan Aroeboesman (WATE). Surrounded by hills which made for quite a steep approach. But well worth the effort as it's an absolutely beautiful place. Think i may stop here for a while and see what the natives have to offer.

Time to head for Darwin, Australia

We have landfall on Australasia (although i promise i never "fell"). Uneventful flight over the ocean. Mild headwinds but not too bad.

Nice little trip, with light headwinds and great scenery.

Fuel is topped off, time for penultimate leg to Charlesville

  12. #37
I got the tailwinds back for this leg, what a refreshing change.

Final leg in the nick of time.

Oops, ran out of fuel and crashed 2.3 miles from the runway. Near enough to haul all the pieces to the airport for the mechanics to put it back together for the return trip. While i go and get myself i nice cool beer

Just for the record: the final leg counts as "completed with a crash landing." Our calculations show that Harv ran out of fuel about 1.7nm from the Essendon runway which, in this case, counts as crashing at the airport. So the official scoring is as the Duenna reported Flight Time plus the crash-landing penalty.
