    trying again!

    I just got a new motherboard, processor and memory (Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping (SLBEJ) 2.66Ghz @ 4.00GHz Max / Gigabyte EX58-UD5 Intel X58 Motherboard / Corsair 6GB DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz DDR3) running Windows 7.
I thought I'd give FSX another shot. Can you guys point me to a good install guide that deals with Acceleration and the appropriate patches etc etc.

    Thanks

    Kurt...

Install FSX Fly a short fiight and defragg

Install Acceleration..fly a short flight and defragg

now set uo your sliders and you are done.

may need to change in the config the TBW from default to 10...or 70-80-90 (if you have stutters)

    Hey Kurt..

The patches that you are thinking are actually Service Packs for the Sim...1 & 2

They are both automatiaclly included on the acceleration Disk and you need to do nothing, unless you have SP 2 installed already, then you will be prompter to delete it first ....

    Yes..As in Davidson...

After installing Acceleration, find the Fsx.cfg and delete before you run FsX, so it can rebuild the cfg file. FsX will run much smoother once you do that.

Play around with your framerate slider to find the best setting. I have it locked at 32 which seems quite stable. If I set it to 22 or lower I get an FPS of 13-14, if I set it to unlimited my frames fluctuate wildly between 5 and 120 fps.

Water and light bloom are both real framerate killers; I find that the bloom effect cuts my framerate in half. My water is set to 2.x medium.

    I had a 1977 Triumph years ago....

It was the Silver jubilee model, with special paint and colors..only 2 thousand made, and only 1/2 of that was uncrated so they say... it was after they won and set a new speed recore at bonneville.

I will not tell you what I traded it for...but it was STUPID....:isadizzy:
