    Nova Scotian Small Airports Available

I do hope it's okay to talk in glowing terms about a commercial product, but I'm just amazed by this scenery product for FSX!

A number of weeks ago -- could have been months, perhaps -- a discussion started here regarding how many SOH denizens lived in Nova Scotia (NS), Canada.

And some *other* kind soul here on SOH (there are a lot of them, I know) steered the way to the marvelous NS sceneries available at SimAddons . That proved to be a marvelous gift to me, 'cause I went there and immediately bought his splendid FSX sceneries for the major airports in NS.

Well, this same fellow just finished producing pretty-well *all* of the *small* airports in NS, and I gotta tell ya, they're just beautifully done. Great accuracy, and amazing realism. A whole hockey sock full of small airports, all for not much money. Have a boo HERE for a bit of a preview.

Believe me, though, that the preview doesn't do the actual FSX sceneries justice. They're top-notch, believe me!

Thanks for the HU, pretty good stuff. Personally, from the shots, I would have to have some higher resolution photoreal ground, but the size, the modeling and the autogen on top is impressive.

This does look good!! I find that some detailed scenery like this results in texture loading stutters when approaching the airport from a distance. Many developers use DXT1 mipmapped textures to reduce a lot of such loading hesitation. Have you noticed such stuttering on approach? Can you check the texture format?

    Thanks for the HU.

Nary a bit of stuttering on my kludge, Rick.

Dunno about the format. How do I check?

I was afraid you would ask that (not really - kidding). If there is no noticeable stutter on approach then that's good enough for me. Thanks for the reply and info.

BTW, I know the Maritimes quite well. Grew up in N.B., moved around a lot, lived in N.S. for a couple of years along the way, now in Calgary but still have family in N.B. and P.E.I.

    Regards,
    Rick
