I found a photo of the Weltensegler V.E.1 and it looks a lot like your dihedral machine.

  2. #14277
That, sir, is because it is the Weltensegler! - built in Baden-Baden by Herr F Wenk in 1925. Thought it might hold you off for longer.....

    Thanks Mike.

Have a go at this one.

Could she be the Ansaldo A300C? There's also the A300T which is almost identical but with round Windows

Thanks BG! The "extra fin" made the difference.

What about a wee early lightplane as a follow up?

Very dapper gentleman in front - not sure what the dog is doing - or going to do - or even done- though at the tail....!

    Looks like a civilianised Nieuport 10 ?

  13. #14288
Yes, that’s a reasonable answer even if the type number isn’t “100% correct”.

The photo shows Nieuport 83 no. 8431 F-ATMT at Angers-Avrillé in 1924. The Nieuport 83 E2 was a derivative of the Nieuport 10 two-seater, with controls only for the pilot in the rear cockpit.

    Pretty Albert A-60 of 1930.

  16. #14291
    Albert it is......

Here is a somewhat elusive flying boat I have investigated in the past. Finally found a photo worth posting (barely!).

  18. #14293
Right! This one had a clerget engine and was the first effort from this firm who designed an array of both civil and military types right up until WWII.

  19. #14294
Suspect it might be an F.B.A. Type 11 or 14 ?

I'll put my coins on the Romano R1 because of the ressemblance with the replica displayed at Biscarosse

It is the Romano. Right on gX!

Flown in 1922 and was tested with a 4-bladed prop as well.

These are the only other photos I could find. Anyone have a decent shot aside from the replica?

  22. #14297
    Comprehensively out-floatered - I'm losing it.........!

I'm wondering why anyone would go to the trouble of building a full-size replica of an obscure machine that only flew once ??

  23. #14298
@lefty: Mike, your question is appropriate!

Here is my next plane. The design isn’t too different from the previous one. Is it therefore a forerunner or a follower of the Romano R-1?

P.S.: the graphical upload manager is back!
