Thanks Uli - the distinctive cabin shape had me reaching for the Československá letadla right away ! I like the reverse tricycle gear on this one too..surprised there aren't more around.

The Martinsyde Raymor before it made a - short - hop at Quidi Vidi

  13. #23538
Yes Robert - it did fly for 10 hours or so before that disastrous day !

My first thoughts were Brochet. Then they were Salmson Cri-Cri. But neither precisely fits the bill.

Not from France, Mike, but it is European.
About a dozen of the type were built as a trainer.

  17. #23542
The company is probably best known for a two-seat trainer which held several speed records before and after the war.
One of these aircraft was the basis for an experimental jet built after the war.

    Ambrosini SAI.10?

  19. #23544
Well Robert, you had to drag that one out of us ! It is the Ambrosini SAI 10 Grifone.

(edit - Pipped to the post!)

  20. #23545
Mike and Mike are correct, it is the Ambrosini SAI.10.
Mike from France was an instant faster, so I pass the baton over to him.

    Santé

  21. #23546
    Thank you, Robert.

My two word reply seemingly allowed me to win by a short head, Mike!

Heads, tails - that below hasn't got the latter!

  22. #23547
Ahh, I think we should leave this to Kevin, Mike - it is very much his territory ! (any idea what became of it ?)
