I did search - but only just now have I discovered there's a dedicated thread search. :-(
I've been using the top right search facility all this time....sorry.

    Happy to declare Open House...

    Here's an interesting triplane ....

With deference to the foregoing comments, I'll say that my search has revealed a recent appearance here of an aeroplane with exactly the same name as I have for this - only on that appearance its date was given as being 13 years later than the date when the photograph below was published. So I'm assuming that either (a) this is a similar, but not the same, aeroplane or (b) the date attributed to the earlier appearing aeroplane was wrong or (c) its creator was producing the same aeroplane for thirteen years or more!

The Sarri Triplane photo I posted last year came from a 1933 copy of L'Ala d'Italia, which presumably is where the confusion arose, Mike. In the accompanying text (given the serious limitations of my Italian) the date of 1919 is given as the birth of this little oddity.

Then that resolves the mystery. This photograph of it appeared in The Aeroplane in August 1920.

Is it now time for a SPCA floater ..... ?

Mike, if I had one, I'd be unlikely to post it when it's identity had already been unveiled (very unsporting...) !

Please excuse this little in-joke, gentlemen - Mike very kindly procured for me a copy of a lovely book on S.P.C.A. machines. Watch this space.

In the meantime, The Boss and I are packing our bags for a wee excursion to Dublin, so, I'll be absent for a few days. OH please, and slainte....

    Hi Mike
unfortunately I stepped in too late to put forth my guess however I have been having two pics of the "Triplanino Sarri" on hand for a long time and do confirm that date of her first flight was 1919 and full name was Sarri-Bestetti (engine was naturally a 35HP Anzani).
    Cheers

Since it is Open House I throw in a question about an aircraft which I'm not able to identify at the moment.
I found these two photos on ebay from a German private seller, so most probably it is European.

My first thought was that it might be Italian or Polish, but I didn't find it in the books "Aeroplani Caproni dal 1908 al 1935" or "Polish Aircraft 1893 - 1939".
No luck as well in the tome about Austrian aviation "Luftfahrzeugbau in Österreich".

    Does anybody have an idea?

I think it's the F.VIIa prototype with Liberty engine, see here: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/F...585231648).jpg
