    Hi Moses
I'm pretty sure it is the Caproni Ca405 "Procellaria" built in 1938....
    Cheers

Hello, chaps, I'm back from a brief sojourn in the Yorkshire hamlet of Lesser Broadband !

You have all been digging up some interesting stuff - this one perplexes me because of the tail markings, but that could be a red herring - is this a Waco CTO-A ?

    Hi Lefty!
I understand that you are by now out of the Lesser Broadband region and hope that you won't be in there again for quite a while....
Yessir it is a WACO CTO (or 225TW) "Taperwing" .
You're puzzled by the registration number maybe because this Aircraft belongs to the brazilian air force.
Your turn for a chunky offer....
    BG

  10. #8635
Well the only chunky thing here is the sizeable piece of artillery mounted in the bows ! I would love to have seen it being fired in anger....

  12. #8637
Yes, the Tellier canon 200 it is. for Moses.

  13. #8638
The full name is Hydravion Tellier 200ch canon de 47mm
200 HP being the power of the engine.
interesting info about it (in French) at http://aeronavale-porteavions.com/vi...hp?f=62&t=2094
It was quite successful and used until 1922

  14. #8639
    Thanks for the clarification fellas.

Here is a lovely photo. Not too difficult. Can you name the airport as well?

    Hi Kevin :salute:

I realize that I run the risk of making a complete fool of myself........

Linbergh Field, San Diego and the Convair CV-110 ??

    Hi Moses!
I ignore what the Aircraft is....but for sure the airport is neither Fiumicino nor Malpensa!

Thanks Kevin, big relief. Gives me courage to continue this ridiculous hobby for at least another 25 years

I think the CV110 was the only CV with those big air inlets under the radials. Convair was located in San Diego and I presumed that the CV110 only operated from her home base, since its only briefly tested.

For the next challenge, the name is sufficient.

Sorry the hints by dan_pub did not help.
This aircraft is usually known as the Progress Aero Discovery, although later efforts were made by FreeBird Aviation to market it as the Xtreme.
AFAIK 2 examples were built by Progress (N81D the prototype and N360F of the photo).

I suggest that dan_pub continues. He clearly identified the girl

Forgot to mention that (again) later marketing was done by Aero Concepts, LLC and the company showed an example (the third?) at Sun-n-Fun 2005.

Argh. I knew you would say that...

In my files I have it as the Progress Aero Discovery 360 of 1991

Anyway. Me and my big mouth. Lessee if I can get something worthy:

To me this one begs the question: are you so afraid that the windscreen will quit on the wings?

    Hi Dan :salute:
Good challenge, had correspondence with the designer/builder, so will let our friends have a go first.

My hints: From a country not really known for homebuilts. AND this aircraft was used by the designer as Study for a more advanced Study II. AND his first design was never completed AND he completed a third aircraft since.

  24. #8649
time for a hint, I guess: the designer has an Armenian name, but lived way West of Armenia.
