The name of the moment in F1 ----- Coanda?
    Keith

  2. #7652
Not a Coanda design. More southwest from his area...

  3. #7653
Which would make it Italian ? A predecessor of the Stipa, perhaps....

  4. #7654
It is Italian and from what I have read the Stipa might have been an extension of this design idea although not proven.

  5. #7655
Let's move on then. This is the Mattioni Botte Volante of 1923.

    V-tail anyone?

    Hi Moses
Fuselage and wings are identical to a Polikarpov R5: I wouldn't be surprised if your item could be a version of that same aircraft with a V tail!

That is it BG. Just a garden variety R5 with a V experiment.

    Have at it-

    Hi Moses
What about a bulky monoplane in a wintery landscape?

Looks a lot like a Hungarian Lampich L-9 except that the tail is not quite right.

Well to be pedantic it is a Lampich L-9/II, i.e. the most powerful brother with a 62.5 Thorotzkay engine.
    Your turn my friend!

    Caproni Ca101 ?

  13. #7663
I think the 101 had a 7 cylinder radial up front....and the other 2 were mounted closer to the wing.

  14. #7664
Not a Caproni Mike. John is correct with his note.

My apologies if the edited registration is misleading. I didn't have time earlier to wipe it all away.

It wasn't the reg that made me pick an Italian machine - there is obviously a missing letter and perhaps some 'doctoring' to the others - (totally legit).

And I wasn't really happy about the Caproni - wrong engines, and the strutting was all wrong too - in fact a bit shambolic...

Finally, the happy gang don't look at all Italian - if anything they look like Brits, but I don't suppose they are.

The motors look like A/S Genets - that brings me to the Westland IV/Wessex - but the struts also aren't quite right, and the reg makes no sense at all. I surrender.

    One last go at it.

Not from the UK or Italian but those are Armstrong Siddeley radials. One built in the mid 1930's. She flew well but didn't see production.

Aussie? Possibly the Lasconder VH-UMY, built by the Larkin Aircraft Supply Company of Melbourne.

  18. #7668
Indeed the Lasco Lascondor. Good show Hurricane.

Curtis-Orenco it is. :ernae: I assume a cold one is appropriate (70* here). Over to you sir.

  22. #7672
Thank you Sir. It hit 83 yesterday and is nearing that again today. December bah!

Here is a seemingly easy trainer.

  23. #7673
    That's the Boeing XBT-17.

  24. #7674
Easy peasy pickings for the Scotsman. I also have it as a Stearman/Boeing effort.

  25. #7675
    Here's a grainy monoplane -
