Thread: The Ongoing Mystery Aircraft Thread Part Deux.

This is the Lewis-American Model A.

Mike, it is somewhat incomplete in this stage as the design evolved over time.

The additional photo was the end product. No word on flight capability. Pardon awkward phone grab.

    Open board then.

Dang! I KNEW it was a Frati design but my - admittedly quick - search didn't find it.

Search didn't find any previous posts of this, but shouldn't be tough for something so colourful...

It's a photo of this aircraft I hadn't seen in colour before, in the last 50+ years.
Found in a blog I'll share after it's identified.
Oh, and occasionally seen with tricycle gear.

    Eureka!

Found FBA-2C CF-OZW-X of Georgian Bay Airways.

The orginal pic can be found here: https://canavbooks.wordpress.com/

but don't blame me if the lengthy scroll down to the pic leads to many other hours chasing down various rabbit holes.

Great site. Did cost me a couple hours of enjoyable time. I've no candidate bird to contribute. Open forum?

Well, OK, the silence is deafening .
This is too easy (unless you want to go for the registration and location) but we need to move along...

A punt that gains a pint or two! One for the win and a bonus.

    Welcome back from paradise.

Thanks Rob. Sadly, we never got to Paradise.. The winds round Madeira that week meant landing was impossible - we had an overnight stop in Tenerife then back home. Trying again in April.

Now here's an oddball that has been here before, but many years ago at the instigation of our dearly departed Walter (Wout). He managed to defeat everyone at that time with this saturnine-looking mystery - don't think it will last long now, though !

Please excuse the clumsy photoshopping - there were a few clues in the original.

    The SNCASO SO.7010 Pégase F-WEAG, peut-être?

  17. #24167
Yes Mike, a rather weird one-off...

  18. #24168
    Thank you, Mike.

Wierd, perhaps, but in many ways a very modern design for 1948.

I shall not be able to post the next challenge until, I expect, this evening.

    Have some Madiera, m'dear
    Unless it's windy this year.
In that case you'll have to wait,
    and hope that April isn't too late;
    So have some Madeira, m'dear

We visited the Museum back in mid 2015. These are the only pics I took of the Pac Aero Tradewind. Sorry for the bad lighting, but there were no lights on in the restoration hangar.

With apologies for the delay, here's a dear little thing that shouldn't last long.

  22. #24172
Might that be the Holleville Bambi ?

Thanks Mike - I am indebted to an old faithful book- Wm Green's 'Aircraft of the World'. (1953 edition -same age as your wee flivver)

Here's an aggie - we haven't had one for a while - which is not French...
