I was sure it was based on the Schweizer 2-32 mated to a PT-6 but I didn't find this one

Hard to imagine a PT-6 breathing at 50+K feet, even though I know the guy who took it to ~40K (in the C-45 test buggy)

Looks like the gentleman from Germany has it.

On with something far less modern. I'd like to know the small biplane in the foreground.

Despite the big Owl in the background the small biplane is not from the US.

  5. #24080
That small pointy tail. Farman Sport of 1919.

  6. #24081
    It is the Farman Sport.

    Over to you, Kevin

    Thanks Robert.

    On with a curious photo....

The image with an armed guard made me think the picture was taken in Belgian Congo. As the Belgians flew almost every aircraft ever manufactured, this doesn't help a lot.

But is it perhaps a Douglas DC-6A Liftmaster?

    Cheers,
    Huub

Not from the USA or France...

Italy is always a hot candidate for such an environment.
    How about the Breda-Zappata BZ.308?

Uli has it. The last aircraft design from Breda I believe.

One of my favorites. Such a pleasing layout.

Some what ifs had it gone into production.

    Sooo beautiful, I fully agree!

Here comes a smaller one in two different views to give you a double chance.

One microlight manufacturer that has taken the British climate seriously is Aeolus Aviation of Reading, Berkshire. The company's first excursion into the field features an enclosed cockpit, conventional controls, and has a realistic cross-country performance.
First flown in October 1982, the Aeolus has now accumulated more than 30hr, during which the whole performance envelope has been fully explored. A single-seater, the aircraft is powered by the popular 333cc two-stroke Fuji Robin engine of 30 h.p.

Woke up to sleet and snow this morning. Bit rare for these parts.

    How about this biplane?

  18. #24093
Not American or European. One-off from 1913.

  19. #24094
Don't know too much about this one. From an island nation.

  20. #24095
Might be Japanese, however, it is not in the book Japanese Aircraft 1910-1941

  21. #24096
Not Asian Robert. This is another southern hemisphere effort.

Maybe a two island nation? I think that this is the Hamilton Biplane, flown by Seaforth and MacKenzie from Martin, North Island, New Zealand, in 1913.

    Sure is Mike. Another Kiwi.

    Have at it-

  24. #24099
How interesting ! A fairly sophisticated-lookng machine for 1913, methinks. And a search reveals, equally fascinatingly, it was also a floater !
