Wout, I had no doubt you knew that one. James was on the right track so I went ahead and awarded him the cold one.

Moses 03, No sweat with the HPR-3. I used my friend's (modern) PC and honestly thought I had cracked this one. However, after I checked to see my reply went out, it suddenly showed the earlier posts including the one from James.
I am glad to go back to my steam driven PC with the mouse driven tred wheel backup. Its so much more reliable.
Lovely heli James !!

No guesses so I'll give a clue.
It was built by a famous glider manufacturer, although the designer went on to start his own company.
And since I'm feeling generous, I'll rule out Schweizer 300 for you:d.

All seems a bit quiet here.
I'll give some more clues and post something else tomorrow if theres still no guesses.
Its a pre-war german machine and was designed to test the effects of very long rotor blades. It had a rotor diameter of 100ft.

We need more helo spotters I think!

The heli is the 'Gigant', designed by Anton Flettner and built by Grunau.
I've got some more nasty real aircraft but for now I'll give you one with sticky out wings.

Maybe a Loening M-8?
I had a feeling Flettner was connected to the whirlybird. Just could not find any info on it.

Any takers on this nice looking twin airliner?

Moses03, I am (almost) certain it is a Savoia-Marchetti, but am not sure on the SM-number
It is time for me to start studying the pre-1945 types.

It is the SM-84!
Stupid, stupid, stupid me. I even posted the same photo on 1000aircraftphotos.com :isadizzy:
If I am right, I'll have a juicy twin boomer to go next

A cold one for Wout. Interesting in that there was another Savoia-Marchetti SM.84- the twin tail bomber that was supposed to be an improvement over the SM.79 but was a failed effort for the most part.
Over to you-

light twin boom amphib. Some lines may look familiar, but this was an original design.

Looks like a cross between a Nardi and a Spencer...

Thanks. Okay, this one is a bit of a stinker. A single boom pusher!

Moses03, you're mean!
My guess it is the KHai-20 of the Kharkovskii Aviatsionni Institut, a two-seat version of the better known one-man KHai-17.

SOH-CM-2023
Hello everybody - just got back from holiday. Wish I hadn't.
Last night the Boss switched on her laptop to find it had died. Off to PC World for a new Vaio (she's paying!)
Later on, booted up my PC, an hour later - crash. New motherboard ordered today. I really don't believe this. Thank heavens for my handy netbook on which this is being posted.
As you know, these things happen in threes, and right enough, whilst on my folding three-step ladder to get a box from the high shelf, decided to descend on the side of the ladder without steps.
On the way down, grabbed a bookshelf, which duly collapsed, and ended up in a heap covered in components and assorted Putnam tomes.
A rude word , gentlemen, escaped the Lefty lips.
I may catch up with you all at a later date. Until then, I'll just sob quietly.....

Lefty, I sympathize with you. Be honest, only ONE rude word?
Your story reminds me to stop cursing at my PC.
This one is for our heli lovers. Not a homebuilt, but from a well established manufacturer

Not sure on this one. But brain isn't working right now, Whirlwind rollout day is saturday.
Unless you're after the Wessex HAS1 or Bell 47?

Have found the same photo so will post a new one.
