As to this: more than 30 year should be enough to call this a “historic aircraft“

This is out of my comfort zone, but maybe a Glasair II?

  8. #22483
    No connection to Glasair, AFAIK

After so many ungainly-looking constructions I thought it would be time for something swift. I am sure, Walter would have loved it.

The aircraft was a regular visitor of the EAA conventions, AFAIK. It comes under several names. The construction principle can be found in the company’s name selling aircraft kits until 10 years ago. Similar to the word "Glasair" but more fundamental.

Could this be the Composite Aircraft Technologies Express, a development (?) of the Wheeler Express?

  10. #22485
It's another white plastic thing to me, but I am intrigued by the rather ostentatious bit of plumbing under the fuselage. Reminds me of my early motoring days in the 60's, when your sporting vehicle had to have the largest, and loudest, exhaust system you could find !

A far cry from the streamlined milk floats that the green lobby will have us all driving soon. Those poor kids will never know what they missed......

It looks very much like a Cirrus SR20, but it isn't as the windows are slightly different . And the Cirrus SR20 isn't that old.

    A puzzled Huub

That, Robert, is one of three Stinson Model O's ordered for the Kweichow Army Air Corps in 1934.

    Nothing more to add, Mike.

    Enjoy your pint.

Nice to see it in flight. The Besson Canard of 1911.

  18. #22493
I think this is the Monsieur Besson in his Canard in 1911 ....

Beaten to the draw by a Texan, Jim ! Yes, it's the Besson. Over to Kevin

  21. #22496
Thanks Mike. Just nipped in there!

As you all know by now, I have an affinity for these oldies.

Here is a forward thinking contemporary of the Besson.

    Thank you Kevin!

This one is definitely somewhat more historic than the Wheeler in my last offer!

From 1918 and not very far from the last mystery, despite eight years distance.
