A Merry Christmas to all of you.

    Here is an easy one.

    Everybody still on Christmas vacation?

This is the first prototype of an aircraft which received a big Lycoming engine when produced in series later on.

  4. #22204
Been a busy morning and afternoon. This a Do 27?

  5. #22205
Not quite, but close enough to me.
It is the precursor Do 25 of which two prototypes existed and which was developed into the Do 27.

    Over to Texas

  6. #22206
Oops, could have done better there. Whenever anyone says something is easy it never is!

    Going floatin'.

Could this be the Shaw Flying Boat from 1915?

  8. #22208
Found this picture of the Shaw Flying Boat in an ebay auction, seems to be the same aircraft and location.

It is the Shaw. Not much built after this.

    Over to Robert.

  10. #22210
Thanks, Kevin, not much in the net about the Shaw.

    Let's try this biplane.

    Stampe & Vertongen SV.22/215 Lynx

  12. #22212
Nothing more to add, Mike, it is the Stampe.

    Slàinte

Thank you Robert. As with a lot of these types, identifying the engine set me on the right track, then 'Les Avions Renard'.

Here's something different - we haven't had a chopper for a while, and this is a nice neat little number..

In Aerofiles but no pic. Designed to provide cheap high-performance helicopter for private owners. Alas, reality took over......

  15. #22215
Let's get this one out of the way. Helicopters were never really popular in this forum, although Walter occasionally threw one in..
This is the Meger Heli-Star from 1971. Based on the Enstrom.
    OH, please, gentlemen.

It looks as if everyone is taking a Christmas/new year holiday from this thread. So here's something easy that, hopefully, won't last until 2021!

  17. #22217
Looks like something from the Taylorcraft/Auster line.

Yes, Moses, I would agree, probably the prototype Autocrat with the Cirrus engine?
Wishing you all a better & healthy 2021 & hope it brings a change of fortunes for those struck down with the virus.

If accepted as correct open house please. I like to look in to see what weird & wonderful aircraft have been made, but I don't have a data base from which to choose anything to baffle you stalwarts!
    Keith

It's certainly an Auster and its roots are in the Autocrat - but it's not an Autocrat, nor is it powered by a Cirrus engine.

  20. #22220
I'll second Keith's good wishes to everyone for 2021 - it just has to be better !

How about the Auster Avis G-AJXW with Gipsy Major ?

The clue here is the odd placement of the lower strut attachment point compared to all other Austers.

  21. #22221
Lefty has it (). It is the Mk.1 Auster Avis G-AJXW with a Gipsy Major. The other clue, if you scrutinise the photograph carefully, is that it has four doors to accomodate the four people that it was designed to carry. I think that it was the only four door Auster. Over to Scotland.

    Thank you Mike.
Here is another high-winger - a rather attractive design, and a debutante here, I think -

That is a nice picture of the Legrand-Simon LS.50, Mike.

  24. #22224
Of course it is, Robert. Over to you -

    Let's try this biplane.
