We know there are issues at certain times. Dave posted this earlier: "It could be getting slower. At that time frame there is a script that copies all of the files in the website to a second drive as a backup. The more files in the library the longer it takes to copy them. While the drive it being copied it slows the whole server to a crawl."

We are actively looking to move to a new server setup or reconcile the situation as is more favorably.

Again, apologies for the trouble getting in. I'm normally not awake when it happens but the one time I was it was most annoying!.

Honestly we do try to be patient - but when you finally get in after a couple of hours trying, start a post, and then, when you are just getting ready to press the 'Submit' button, down she goes again !

I must confess, the odd Scottish pleasantry has escaped under these circumstances..........

A biplane from a company not known for biplanes. Methinks a BFW M.22?

  4. #21454
    You got it !

  5. #21455
Thanks Mike. We have had this quirky flying boat in the distant past. Never seen this photo of it until the other day though.

Bonus points for knowing the odd design bit to it.

Is it simply a 'pixel lite' image of a sesquiplane or is the machine depicted a biplane on the port side and a monoplane on the starboard side?

  7. #21457
Pixel lite Mike. The lower wing extends just beyond the floats on each side.

Here is a cropped frontal view.

  8. #21458
Yes, I posted this eons ago - and my photo proved it did actually fly !

  9. #21459
I knew, I know it: Lawrence-Lewis A-1, built and flown near Chicago during 1915-16.

    Ok, I'll bite

That is the Hessenland (roughly translated as Hesse county) designed probably by Wieland and Ott in 1928/29.

That bird has been subject of investigation a while ago in the Flugzeugforum, however further search remained unsuccessful.

Do you have anything more about that plane, Uli?

  15. #21465
    you got it

All I have is this photo with a few lines in Netherlands and another few lines in Lange's book.

    Thanks, Uli

Let's try this one, an extra beer for the circumstances of the photo.

The movie is "a bridge too far". The aircraft flew with the Dutch registration PH-BKT. The aircraft was lost after a crash in Belgium in the early 90-ties.

Below the same aircraft (in good company) but now flying for the other side. This time disguised as P-47 Thunderbolt.
