Liechtenstein! Could it be one of the rare products of the Liechtenstein National Aircraft Factory? No? Oh well, I suppose I'd better look at Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovenia & Slovakia.

You're not, Mike, being singled out for the 'we're too busy to serve you at the moment' treatment. I get it nearly every morning.i I can live with it but I'd be interested to know what causes it. Are there lots of people who like simulating flight before lunch but occupy themselves elsewhere for the rest of the day?

  2. #21252
No, I was told on previous occasions it was due to 'site maintenance'. At times when the bulk of members, (i.e. Western hemisphere) are in beddybyes..

Succinct as ever ! The weather reconnaissance aircraft nicknamed the "Höhengeier". Over to you, Chris -
(This particular one was actually the Fw47C - D-IVYL)

    Nice low winger

Sorry about the site issues. The maintenance should not be so intrusive.

Dave is looking for a long term solution.

  7. #21257
Thanks Kevin. I don't think we are being too impatient - this has gone on for years, but has recently got a lot worse - 2 1/2 hours this morning - and it is every morning. Hope Dave can find a magic wand !

What really irks is finally getting to post, then halfway through, it crashes again - hope this one works !

Not in Aerofiles from the land of one of the regulars

Completely under the radar, Chris ! Found this nice photo - what a lovely piece of design and build for its time.....

Talking of Italy, has anyone heard from Carlo recently? He doesn't seem to have posted since late May, when he was about to go into hospital for a check-up.

  12. #21262
I think it is Open House, so here is a two-parter to get things going - a wee dram for the aircraft, and a beer chaser if you can tell me where it is !

(Mike, have not heard from Carlo - have sent an e-mail today)

Lake Tongwe or Tanganyika? Actually just looking for a "Beer" which I don't drink.

    Chris

  14. #21264
    ..... and a Short 310 Seaplane?

  15. #21265
I think Chris must have known both - Belgian Short 827 on the shore of Lake Tanganyika, 1916

Take two drams instead, Chris - over to you -

  16. #21266
A "Red Herring" aircraft I didn't want to do one so quick again. Said I don't drink beer let alone two. Thanks
Not a "Real" Pilot since I don't drink coffee either.

I would say that this is a modified Macchi MB.308, possibly for racing purposes.

Probably the first aircraft which I have identified by the door.

  18. #21268
That's it Robert I figured it wouldn't last too long.

    Chris

  19. #21269
    Thanks, Chris.

Back to biplanes, I guess this one shouldn't last too long.

Well, I think I see more than 50% Moth parts but is that sufficient to call it a de Havilland?

I'm not quite sure whether you are playing with words, Uli, but this is not a de Havilland.

  22. #21272
    I got it: the Caproni Ca.100 !

    (with Fiat A-50, registration I-1)

  23. #21273
    It is the Caproni Ca.100

I selected this perspective deliberately where the special arrangement of the wings isn't obvious and a Ca.100 with a Cirrus engine probably would have been too easy.

    Over to you, Uli.

    on with a "butterfly"

Have ladder, will fly! Daniel Dalby's Cubchel, I think.

Edit: or maybe not - the wing struts are wrong for that and it appears to have ailerons.
