This trainer showed up around 1917. The builder designed aircraft as late as 1965.

  2. #20677
Well it looks like a Jenny with a radial motor, but I can't find anything of that description.

  3. #20678
The last plane he designed took the life of famed pilot Paul Mantz...

  4. #20679
... in which case it should be the Timm T-18 built by Otto Timm.

  5. #20680
    Yes Sir.

    Over to Germany.

  6. #20681
    Thanks, Kevin!

This one might look familiar. An extra beer for what is so special about this bird.

Thank you, Chris, Here's something that's modern, but not quite as modern as the Alpi.

Found this one, Uli. It is the Quad City Challenger II. Amazed to find there were over 3500 sold.

Cute, but I doubt it would struggle to take off with me in the back seat !

  21. #20696
right on the Quad City Challenger II, Mike
As to take-off: with a stronger engine perhaps?
    Enjoy your pint

Thanks Uli - we will stick with the watery theme - I think this fellow found a bigger pond to float his creation in !

It might have been a tight squeeze for me too - (There is some doubt about how far it actually flew, but I think it is interesting anyway. In Aerofiles but no pic)

    Hi Mike
This seaplane was built by Harvey Mace and Al Trefethen and registered N90522. It used the wings, tail section and rear fuselage of the 1940s Parks PAR-1 racer which were mated to a new forward fuselage and engine installation (one 100hp Continental O-200-A). The aircraft was nearing completion in late-1967, but did not fly.
(I had some correspondence with Mr. Mace many years ago and he confirmed that)
PS: She was known as the Seamaster and sometimes as Blue Bullet.

That's the one, Walter - comprehensive as ever ! Over to you, sir -

When you think about it, 100hp isn't enough to try and lift all that stuff off the water. Nice story here -
