I have this picture already for decades, but was never able to find out what it IS. (I do know what it WAS).
Am fairly certain it is USA, because pic if from EAAs Sport Aviation.
First one to post what it WAS, will be winner. However, bonus for info what it IS.

Hi Walter, have tried to find this one in the past. I want to say it was heavily modified from a BT-13 or similar trainer. (Maybe a PT-19?).

    Hi Kevin
All I know is that she was described as a heavily modified Fairchild PT-19, which seemed an understatement at the time.
My guess is that she was modified/used for movies. View the fact that the aircraft has a swastika on the tail, excludes Britain, I think.
My office is 24/7 open for suggestions

Can I tempt you to post the next challenge?

  5. #20055
Used for movies or as an airshow villain perhaps?

This one should not cause too much fuss-

  6. #20056
Ahh, an old favourite, the Bernard 160.

  7. #20057
That's the one. Guinness for Mike.

Sorry for the delay, chaps. Getting into this forum in the morning is still problematic, posting even more so !

Here's a wee monoplane ahead of its time - not difficult, but I think a debutante here ....(damn, there's another clue !)

Most probably the LeO 9, Mike.
Looks indeed rather modern for a kite of 1921.

  10. #20060
Yes, Robert - it came to a sad end, though. A dunkel to you ......

  11. #20061
    Thanks, Mike.

Here is something of similar appearance.

    Dietrich DP.VI Robert?

  13. #20063
    That was fast, Kevin!

It is indeed the single Dietrich DP.VI, thought this would last some seconds longer, pictures of this bird are relatively rare in the net.

    Cheers

Thanks Robert. The curved fin was a good clue.

Keeping the low wing monoplane theme going-

One built from a small firm. It had a solid showing in a mid 1930's air race.

  16. #20066
About five years ago, Carlo posted it's slightly younger sibling...the one with the 130hp license built Gipsy Major.

  17. #20067
    It featured a Fiat engine...

  18. #20068
Didn't think this one would last. It's the Gabardini Lictor 90.

    Open board then-

Well I hope everybody has had a pleasant weekend - getting decidedly chilly here now, but the sun is shining.

Someone has to get the show going again, so here's a nice big boatie to kick off --

Hi Lefty! sorry boys but I was unwell Yesterday and taken to hospital for precaution and for further investigations...I'm feeling much better already but I'm afraid I will have to taste for at least a couple of more days the excellent (Aargh!) table-d'hote meals extended by our "Nosocomium" to his patients! Cheers
    Carlo

Carlo ! So sorry to hear about your set-back - you just take time, get better and we'll see you soon.

Think we'd better have OH, fellows.....

  24. #20074
    Get well Carlo!

Here is one of my favorite flying boats. A real beauty if you ask me.
