Sorry, Carlo. Green has it. It's a Blackburn Dart, photographed from the air over Calshot.

    Hi Green
this is clearly a US Aircraft with contrarotating props….what about a Boeing XF8B1? however considering that very little is to be seen of the Aircraft it could very well be one of those North American contraptions used a racers….
    Cheers

"Tests at Boeing Field were marred by an accident in which a test pilot accidentally retracted his landing gear on final approach. Investigation later found this to have been caused by a faulty micro switch. This occurred just as first shift was ending, and as many workers watched from the Plant 2 steps, the XF8B-1 bellied onto the concrete."

Nearly the same hint from my last mystery can be applied to this plane: From a well known stable, however, the engine of this one-off had less power.

First flight around 1930, my sources differ about the exact year.

Though there is a connection to an American aviation company the plane was not built in the US.

    Engine was a Siemens.

Apart from the fin it looks pretty much like a Messerschmitt M 26

    Because it is a Messerschmitt M 26!
There seem to be different versions of the fin, I also didn't know about that until yesterday, when I found the photo in Bruno Lange's book.

    Cheers

Aah, that’s why I thought I knew the photo.

How about an easy floater for some change?

Thinking Macchi - and the nose has M.8 written on it.
Therefore, by clever deduction, the Macchi M.8.
