    Hi fabolousfour
That is her! Very nice research/investigation/spying work. Care to share how you found LV-X198?

  3. #17478
    Hi Walter.
When you wrote that the picture is from a site which is no longer available I was quite sure that you meant the site of Grupo Aracuan.
I have the archived site where the types and their registrations are available, however no photos.

Googling for photos of the types gave a hit for the Berca at this site

Next mystery is a bit older.

    It is the Villiers 24!
The first French military aircraft with slats.

    Over to Scotland.

  7. #17482
Thank you Robert, and sorry Carlo !

It's ages since we had a floater......

Saro A.17? Maybe the one with the single Lynx engine.

  9. #17484
That's the one - the sole single-engined Cutty Sark. Over to Texas

  10. #17485
Thanks Mike. Going to the floater well one more time with this pointy chap.

That's the Shoemaker #3 Flying Boat.

  12. #17487
Boom! The other shoe has dropped. Suds for the Scotsman.

  13. #17488
    Thanks Kevin.

Been watching the World Cup Final - congratulations to France, who deserved it, even if they were playing with twelve men.....

I've checked and can't find this large lady having been posted before - (she looks blowsy enough to be French, but isn't !)

I won't contribute yet. I'm not exactly unbiased. But who was the twelfth man?

That is a very nice picture of the Pacific Hawk, predecessor of the Timm Skylark.

Is that a Curtiss Eagle in the background?

  16. #17491
Robert, it is the Pacific Hawk indeed.

Mike, the refereeing decisions leading to the first two French goals were diabolical ! All the (neutral) pundits agree on that one......

Try as we might, we just can't seem to get excited by football over here. Maybe if the USA had qualified? Dunno...

I did attend a World Cup game in 1994, watching Spain take on South Korea. Enjoyed the match actually.

    Re: Hawk
That is a nice photo! We had an interesting discussion on the Hawk some time ago. Unfortunately the original poster's picture is missing. (Although a partial crop of it appears further on).

Regarding the Hawk I would assume that it was really underpowered with just two 90 hp engines for such a big plane.

Must have been a much better performer with the Liberties...

Here is a mystery biplane much smaller in size

Whilst I'd beg to differ - and might counter with some points concerning the decision to award the free kick which led to the first Croatian goal - I'm cognisant of the fact that this is the Ongoing Mystery Aircraft Thread and not the Ongoing Mystery Refereeing Decision Thread. And there's also the fact that I am feeling a little delicate - if I might put it that way - this morning .....

Thank you for asking to get back to topic! much appreciated.

  22. #17497
Point taken , sir ! PH and I will continue this debate via PM's ! ......and I promise not to have a go at South African rugby either......woops!

Meanwhile, I haven't a clue about Robert's diddy biplane obviously filched from a funfair -don't think I would fit in anyway....

  23. #17498
Mike, it flew away from a merry-go-round and the cops in the background are just questioning the kid.

    Just joking...

According to one source this tiny biplane was outstandingly successful, as a racer it couldn't be beaten in any race where it participated!

  24. #17499
The biplane was powered by a British engine which was popular for light aircraft in those days.
However, the plane is not from the UK.

    On aerofiles and with photo!
