Indeed, this seems to be a mock-up or an artist’s impression of the real thing. The picture is from the presentation map of the aircraft. It was actually built and flown (and still exists). The general layout should give it away. Please ignore engine and propeller. Sorry my fault.

Looks like the 225th attempt to build a canard.

it comes from a really well-known stable

It seems to me that the company wanted to compete with home-builts, but that effort failed. Nevertheless, a company with that famous name still prospers in the aerospace business.

Is this aircraft (or a derivative?) in a museum in a famous seaside city and in a museum devoted to aircraft which donot mind getting wet feet and bearing a famous pre-war name?
The ohoto I got even shows a registration, but the craft has somewhat different lines (less eggie).

A one-off with existing parts (Walt would be proud, I assume) and own design features.
Sorry, no extra points when you guess where the pic was taken.

Forgot to mention she is not US! There is a clue in Dave`s pic, however.

C-FSEV is from Canada and called the Betts Alliance. Mike Betts used the wings, horizontal tailplane, flaps, landing gear of a Mooney M-20C and combined this with
the composite fuselage of an Express Aircraft Auriga Express.
The one-off was later sold in the USA and became N93AL

Looks like a Southern (Miles) Martlet to me!

  16. #17441
It should, Mike, because it is a Martlet.

3 minutes for the solution, I think I must rethink the degree of difficulty

  17. #17442
Sorry, Robert, but you got me on my 'specialist subject'! I'll try to post something equally as interesting in the morning.

  18. #17443
Here's something that wasn't exactly rare but is pictured in unusual circumstances. Thus precise details are required!

  19. #17444
I think, Mike, that must be G-ABGE, the Vildebeeste II floatplane with Hispano engine, which came to grief on Putney Common whilst being towed on a truck after a Baltic sales tour.

  20. #17445
G-ABGE it is, but I've got it as a Type 217 Wildebeest VII and the location as Wimbledon Common. But I did ask for precision rather than pedantry, so it's over to Caledonia.

  21. #17446
Thanks Mike - let's be totally pedantic and declare that we both got the spelling wrong - it's Vildebeest ! (at least for Vickers it is......)

Here's one with no controversy (I hope) about the designation. We'll see.

    It's those damned vombles!

No taker for the Stearman „Sportster“ Modell 81?

The Model 81 was a conversion of the basic 80 design that was planned for use as a secondary-trainer of military pilots, or as a fast long-range mail plane. As a prototype, the Model 81 was not built to order, but most likely on speculation in hopes of stimulating some orders for this type of airplane from small foreign countries. [Juptner]
