There was also a cabin version of this wee plane, altogether less than a dozen were built. Both versions had a Kinner engine.

The company existed only a few years.

    I can't help thinking of a Red Indian ;-)

    Over to Kevin

  6. #15581
Sorry for the delay, been a busy morning.

    Next up, a diminutive parasol.

  7. #15582
If it wasn't for the tail I'd say Mignet HM-8 - or, at least, influenced thereby.

  8. #15583
Hey Mike, this is not of French origin.

  9. #15584
Pietenpol Sky scout or air camper??

    Chris

  10. #15585
Hmmm, that gentleman looks decidedly oriental to me....

  11. #15586
    Not a Pietenpol Chris.

Unsure about the Oriental observation but the designer could have been an immigrant as his name was unusual. Flown in 1927.

  12. #15587
It's very like the Heath, but obviously isn't that. How about the Mohme A-1 ?

  13. #15588
Not the Mohme but they are neighbors as this one was from across the river in New York. I found reference to a modified Henderson motorcycle engine being used but take that with a grain of salt.

it almost looks like a Heath Parasol to me

This could be a Heath knock-off as this layout was pretty common for the time period. The original photo I have lists a different inventor/designer. Maybe Mr. Heath could have hired a lawyer but seeing the designer faded into history he didn't make a fuss about it.

  16. #15591
I have this as the Krupup Parasol. Built and flown in 1927 around New York. (Also, the Gentleman in the photo might be of American Indian ancestry which is interesting). I have a newspaper source and recall a one sentence mention in a period aviation journal some time ago.

This could very well be a kit built Heath Parasol that was just different enough to have a new designation. That said, I'm not 100% sure about any of it so going open board.

  17. #15592
“Caled a heit parasol” … shouldn’t that indeed read: “Heith parasol”??

I wondered about that too gX. The thing is, the other aircraft mentioned in that article, the (Albert) Gaines monoplane checked out. I don't doubt that Mr. Krupup might have built himself a kit Heath.

    All in fun.

  19. #15594
Okay, seems to be some trepidation here. Let's press on with something less arcane.

  20. #15595
Two engines geared to one prop, that should be the Vega Unitwin alias Lockheed Vega Starliner.

  21. #15596
    Some suds for Robert!

  22. #15597
Thanks, Kevin, brilliant photo of the Vega!

    Here is a big floater.

No problem: We do have mountains and valleys to separate land from water (and I live on the hill).

Here is something to escape from the waters
