Hi Mike
As so often with beauties, she goes under different names.
Rutan (Scaled Composites) Model 120 or more commonly ATAC Predator 480 (ATAC for Advanced Technology Aircraft Company Ltd).
An accident at early age prevented N480AG from presenting us with, no doubt, even more blinding siblings.
Thank you Mike. May the best one win the elections!
I have not removed the registration since it had not yet been applied at the time the photo was taken.
If you have been at this airfield, you may recognize it. Most of the time there is no snow.
And always keep in mind: Every aircraft is a mystery until you find out the name.
Presumably Russian, if the flag on the tail of the aeroplane behind is a clue! And if the airfield is usually snow free, are we looking at somewhere down in the Caucasus?
Hi PH
Absolutely correct on the country. However, not the Caucasian region. I maye have caused confusion on the snow, but I know from experience that the region has long spells with snow,
but also temperatures that can rise high!!
A very big city is around the corner.
The plane is number 10 in a series and a two-seater with aerobatic performance.
Well, Walter, the aerodrome looks suspiciously like the location of the Delphin 3, whose picture you posted on 17 February (do you know how many pages back through which I had to trawl before I found that!). If so, was this one too photographed at Kronstadt (which is just around the corner from St Petersburg) and might it be another creation of Peter Lyavin? Or maybe, as you say that the club there is pretty active, there's another club member who's pretty handy, design wise, and perhaps is responsible for this one? I've failed to get beyond this.
Hi PH
Very good memory!. Indeeed a further product of the Kronstadt group, the Delfin 10. Have not yet found out many details (designer etc.), but seems the guys are already working on an improved Delfin 10M.
This one flew 2010 and here is a pic of her in flight.
Its all yours, sir!
