    Here is a big contraption...

  2. #7352
This bomber was underpowered, aerodynamically challenged and not very successful.

  3. #7353
Here is a frontal view. However, this version appears to be a little different...

  4. #7354
Ahhh, that's better - from the first pic it was very difficult to tell even how many engines it had.

Now, where is the spiritual home of the trimotor ?? Yes, of course - it's the Caproni Ca 95

With 3000hp (same as a SM 79) you wouldn't think it would be all that underpowered, but I suppose it was a very large crate.

    Hi Moses
thanks for the very nice pics of the Caproni Ca95 unfortunately although I'm pretty conversant with the features of this particular aircraft I just got in too late when Lefty was through with his job!
BTW in checking my file concerning this Caproni I noticed I didn't report date of her first flight and in spite of my researches I haven't been able to find out as yet.
Would you have this information that you might like to share with me?
    Cheers

Can't find a date for that first stagger of the Caproni, Baragouin....

    Time for a floater - here's a tidy one.

  7. #7357
Well done Mike on the Caproni.

Nothing on first flight here. My question to you both is, was there a different designation for 2nd version? The tail section was redesigned and there seems to be no info out there.

I suspect, unless anyone can come up with a (very rare, and very expensive) copy of 'Gli Aeroplani Caproni', we may never know the answer to these questions !

  9. #7359
Well, here is an online version (pdf) of GLI Aeroplani Caproni. (Takes awhile to download). Anyone read Italian?

    http://www.avia-it.com/act/bibliotec...proni%20G..pdf

A quick check (starting from page 254), just shows the first version.

No takers for my elegant water nymph ? She is west European, mid-twenties. Motor by a company still going today..........

    Thanks Moses!
I thoroughly enjoyed your wonderful link re "Caproni Aircrafts" and I think we should all be indebted to you for sharing it with us!

PS Unfortunately it doesn't shed any light on the problem concerning the Ca95

You are welcome BG. Nice of that Italian site to make it available!

No luck with Lefty's floater. Has a German feel but nothing uncovered yet.

  13. #7363
Ah Ha ! The unmistakeable fragrance of bockwurst and bier drifts over the page......The Texan Terror is on the trail...... can he catch this BMW-powered floater ??

  14. #7364
Thought it might be a Udet effort but no go. White flag going up in Texas.

A product of the Luft-Fahrzeug-Gesellschaft, this is the L.F.G. V.60 Five produced in the mid-Twenties.

Rather grainy (but what can you expect from 1940 eastern Europe?)....
    Good luck

    Hi Lefty!

Yes, it is indeed the sole serbian (not hungarian) "Brucoš" ("Freshman") of 1940 powered by a DeHavilland Gipsy Major I.
    Your turn Sir
    Cheers

Sorry, Baragouin, had a senior moment there - been obsessed with Hungary of late. It's those girls in the red leather boots.........

Now here's a reminder that you should never eat curried eggs in confined spaces.

This "epave" should be the unfortunate Lacab GR8 "Doryphore" a belgian contraption of 1936!
    Cheers

Yes, I agree, a powerful Luftwaffe fart.....?

Those Belgians should have stuck to beer and chocolate.

Over to Tuscany - a glass of my favourite Ramazzotti for the Signore.
