    Dutch Fokker DXXI flying.

Was disappearing down the YouTube wormhole (as you do!), looking for Mercury engine things, when I came across this cracking little vid..

Didn't realise there was a DXXI flying, and has only just got into the air. Great video, take a look.

    Cheers

Hahaha. where have you been hiding Shessi? This project has been mentioned here at the SOH forums several times already.

The maiden flight was in April 2023, but it has been quite a long process to get there. Grandpa Jack van Egmond, who is the man behind this project, has restored many old timers already. And a perhaps less known fact is that a Spitfire and the Buchon used for the movie Dunkirk were maintained by the company of Jack van Egmond during the film sessions which were shot above the IJselmeer.

The Fokker D.XXI is a private project and the aircraft is build according the original drawings. According to Jack this would simplify the process of getting the required papers for the aircraft as the design was already approved 1936. The only big difference is the engine. Although van Egmond also works on engines from the German company Meier Motors, a Bristol Mercury was outside the available budget and too difficult to maintain. Therefore a Wright GR1820-F52 engine was used instead.

    Well sod you Huub!

And no it hasn't been a subject or topic, do a search for D21, DXXI or even Fokker and no it's not a Fs2004 subject in any search. And certainly not in the last 8 months since this has been flying, or the past 5 months since the video was put up on YT, and apart from me and Mick there may be others who didn't know and might be interested, and saved them the trouble of searching for the video...but apart from that you're right, I won't bother mentioning interesting things now and again....

    Happy New Year!

    Hugs

Yes, but NOT on this forum! FFS

And NONE of those posts had links to actual flight videos.

So do you think my post and link to a great bit of flying video is a justifiable update, and relevent both in new content and to this particular forum? Hmmmmm just possibly...lol.

Enjoy the video, you (and others) just might have not seen it!
