    Forgotten Airfields

    There are two sites that I've been looking at. The have lists and info on old airfields. I included the links below.

    This may not be new news but I just found them and think the sites are great.

    Although not a forgotten airfield, per se, Aruba's International Airport is also the location of Dakota Airfield, used by U.S. Army Air Corps units during WW2. My father was stationed on Aruba from 41-43 with a US Army unit to protect the oil refineries on the island from Nazi U-Boat attacks. I submitted a scenery request on Flightsim.to today, in hopes that someone might "resurrect" Dakota Airfield, and maybe place some static aircraft on the field to represent the units that operated from there.

    I did some searching and found some aerial shots of the airfield from that period, along with a list of the units that were there:
