iniBuillds Spartan 7W Executive

Saw this announced via the iniBuilds newsletter and forum post.

I am also super excited to announce our next aircraft in production for the CLASSIC aircraft range - the iniBuilds Spartan 7W Executive. We are at early stages, but this project is going to be fantastic and we wanted to start showcasing it sooner rather than later!

Introducing the luxury transport aircraft of the late 1930's, the Spartan 7W Executive was popular with affluent aircraft owners worldwide, due to its spacious and lavish interiors, which we will faithfully recreate to the highest standards.

We won't reveal too much info now, but you can expect the usual offerings from all iniBuilds aircrafts with fantastic, faithful efforts in all areas of the aircraft.

I saw it yesterday. Good choise. I remember very good model for FSX (free I suppose), spent a lot of time flying her.

This is great news - I flew the wings off of Milton's Spartan, thanks to him and to all the individual community members who enhanced that aircraft in FSX, so I'm excited to have it back
now in MSFS.

So it was. In fact, it might have been in FS9 that I first had it. Not long afterwards, two of them appeared on the UK airshow circuit, both owned by Nigel Pickard.

I am very excited for this one, to have a brand-new, high-poly/high-fidelity Spartan Executive, and with the current textures/material capabilities in MSFS, especially for creating realistic-looking bare metal.

Only 34 production Spartan Executives plus one prototype were built during the period of 1936 through 1940. 20 are still known to survive in the world today (each with their own unique story/history of owners and various paint schemes). 18 Spartan Executives were pressed into service with the US government during WWII, with 16 going to the Army Air Corps and 2 to the Defense Plane Corporation. These were designated as UC-71s. Additionally, 4 were acquired by the British Royal Air Force. 3 of those RAF examples were used as advanced trainers at the Polaris Flight Academy in Hawthorne, CA, circa 1940-1941. It was a group of American pilots, not British, who were trained on these, as a sort of "refresher" course, before heading to Britain to serve as fighter pilots in the three Eagle Squadrons, flying Hurricanes and Spitfires (at least five of the Polaris graduates became aces - Carrol McColpin, John Lynch, James Peck, George Carpenter and Steve Pisanos). Later, by mid-war, those three Spartan Executives were transferred to the RAF Ferry Command in Montreal, Canada (the additional 4th RAF Executive was stationed in the UK during the war). After the war, the Spartan Executives that had survived their military assignments were returned to civilian owners.

In 2016, marking the 80th anniversary since their original introduction, there were eight gathered at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh - believed to be the most that had ever been together at one time. The most ever seen together in historical photos was six. (First five photos by Nigel Hitchman). The last photo is from the EAA, from AirVenture Oshkosh 2001.

I'm still flying Milt's Spartan in P3D 5. Love that bird! As long as it still works, I'll fly it !
