    Off to Pearl

Have the Baron fueled and ready to fly myself and my son to Oahu to go to Pearl Harbor on Monday. There are 3 Memorial Services for USS Utah,USS Arizona and USS Oklahoma starting starting on Tuesday.

First time I went was 2002 with my husband and we met a few veterans that were there during the attack.I didn't go again for a few years because of raising my daughter, but my brother in law ( Al aka Talon ) went every year.He went here often to gather info for the PHP2 he was helping with. Some of the missions he did were recorded before he released them here at SOH and they liked that they were pretty accurate.

I don't expect to see any veterans because the attack was 81 years ago and they'd be late 90's or over 100.

This year the weather will be better, last year there was a lot of rain everyday.

Have a safe trip. Veterans of WWII have indeed become rare and those still alive are very brittle.

    Hiede,

    Wow, what an opportunity.

Have a safe journey. I'm sure your son will soak up the atmosphere in this historically significant location, and comes away all the better for it.

My son has been to Pearl Harbor a few times before starting when he was 8.He was there last year with us even with the rain.He enjoys it.My daughter has been there also but also goes to the Aquarium, she is now in Tampa Bay Florida to study Marine Biology and related subjects.

Safe flight and have a wonderful time.

It is indeed a special place that you can't grasp until you've visited for yourself.

They had the same problem with a veteran before, they had to get special equipment, specialists and special flights to get him here.I think he was in his late 90's.

Today they had Memorial for the USS Utah and and an event at the Arizona Memorial.Tomorrow is a Memorial for the Oklahoma and what's in your article.
