40" 21:9 Dell or LG monitor?

Is anyone using either the Dell or LG 40" 21:9 5K2K monitors? How are either one of them working for you? As far as I know, those are the only two 40" widescreens available. I've done some "rearranging" of my desk space to see how big of a monitor I could actually use. While my current 32" 16:9 Dell is a decent monitor, the extra left/right space of a widescreen sure would be nice. Both the Dell and LG 40" widescreens are effectively the same height as my 32", but add roughly 5" to each side. While it's a very tight fit, I think I could manage a 40" 21:9 curved display.
Ideally, I'd love to see 20:10 (2:1) ratio OLED monitors widely available, but I just don't see that happening.
    Cheers,
    Dave

Can't help on those specific monitors, as I'm using a Samsung 49".

But I will say, budget for a fast CPU and a 4080/4090/3090Ti if you go for that resolution! My 49" is only 5,120x1440 (so 3/4 of the vertical resolution) and it gives my shiny new 4090 a workout.

Yes indeed - I have an Intel Core i9 10900KF and a RTX 3070 that's been a champion so far. However, I'm thinking it certainly would be limited with a true 4K monitor.

My guess is you'd still be able to get at least fluid frames at 4K with about any 3 series card. My 1650 mobile graphics chip gives me 30+ at 1080 rez, but 8-10 if I bump up to 4K on my Samsung monitor. I haven't tried anything in between yet. I might load up the Kodiak (hardest on frames in the cockpit) and see what I get with some of the intermediate settings.

Yeah, if you run with a lot set to Ultra at those resolutions, you end up CPU-limited. FWIW, I upgraded from a 10900K to the 13900K and saw my frame rates increase about 140% using the same video card on both systems. The 3070 is powerful enough that you might find the CPU is your next future upgrade target.

Ok, now y'all.have me wanting to buy a new, larger monitor. However, my current system may not handle, for example, a 49" monitor.

    I now have:

    I7 8700k CPU

    ASUS RTX 1080ti 11gb ram

So would my system handle a "49" monitor? Would I need a newer graphics card AND a cpu? Pete

Chief, you can always get the bigger monitor, but you may not be able to run at 4K in the sim. Other games that don't need as much power may run well on 4K though. Just remember that running the sim at 1080 on a monitor that big may start to look a little blurred. I went from a 40" to a 32" and I actually like it better. The pixels are more compressed, so running the sim at 1080 when the monitor will do 4K actually looks better.

Thanks Tom. I will probably stick with my 34" monitor. It's just me, wanting the latest and greatest, eh? Chief
