Oh the joys of getting old

I have been flying FS8, FS9, FSX, P3D, and now MSFS for about 25 years. During that time, I often use keyboard shortcuts. Well, I took a two month break from any flight simming. Last night for the first time I got back into my cockpit to try the new SWS RV-14. There was no sound coming from the engine. I could NOT remember the keyboard shut cut to turn the sound off and on. I also didn't remember some of the settings I assigned to my HOTAS. Talk about frustrated!

Getting old is not for the timid.

What are you talking about ?
I'm just 43 and I have the exact same issues.
My breaks away from simulation are just shorter, that's all

To remember anything, I have to write it down! I keep a note in my pocket with my name on it!

One article I read a while back said that if you are aware that you are forgetting things, it is probably just normal aging. But if you are unaware that you are forgetting things that is a sign of dementia.

There was more to the article, but I forgot the rest. :-)

Getting old may be a bit of a drag, but it's better than the alternative

    "Who?"

    "What?"

    Best regards, Manfred.

Jmig, you've got about 18 years on me but my excellent 20/10 vision disappeared at 40, my hearing has never been great due to exposure to all kinds of high noise sources and I kid you not, 6 ear infections since last fall (two serious) have taken more of my hearing to the point I will need hearing aids in the not to distant future. I have long term memory like an elephant BUT I have my days of short term CRS (Can't Remember S***). Never mind the pinched nerve in my lower back and right hip that is damaged and wants to pop out every now & then to throw me off balance. Yeah, age/wear and tear is fun... LOL! But hey, we're here and that's a good thing!
