    Exclamation Report of a busted download...

    Good evening,

    A member sent me a PM letting me know we may have a busted download in the Japanese aircraft section. Could someone check this Emily?

    http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforum...id=53&id=20987

    "A total revamp of an FS2000 Kawanishi H8K2 Emily for CFS2 by Shessi, SOH Feb 2016.

    Based on Aidan R. McCaffrey's FS200 Emily, which is a great looking model, but it had no external cockpit, VC or full crew. Now including these and made multi-LOD and a new tex, DP etc. Good on FR's, glightstate and crashcheck removed."

    From the member:
    CFS2 -Japanese Aircraft download: Kawanishi_H8K2_Emily_CFS2 is corrupt and when added to the aircraft file does not permit freeflight or quickcombat. please have removed until fixed.

    Thanks,
    "Rami"

    DL'd the file and installed the H8K2. The aircraft+loadouts show up in the viewer windows
    but when flynow is selected, the game crashes in both freeflight and quickcombat venues.
    from qc error log:
    "[Mission file error]
    error=Unable to init unit 1000
    title=Quick Combat"
    Thats all, nothing else, same story for freeflight.

    Bwf,

    Okay, thanks. I'm PM Shessi to see if he can take a look at it.

    FYI

    I downloaded this file back when it was first released. Don't know when I first installed it but most recently I loaded it in my PTO Rhumba install in 2020 and have been using it ever since, exclusively in Mission Bldr. Just tried it in Free Flight. Only problem I have ever had was getting all four engines to turn. Eventually they all function. No problems flying in FF for me. Ditto QC. So, whatever is creating current issue was not present in the original download file.

    Did a quick check of my Emily d/l and I ditto with Worthless only mine started all four engines in sequence right up. Installed in October 2020.

    Might be a gauge in the panel that is not supported by this member's OS.

    Should have mentioned that I'm running the game on Win10.
    Looked thru' the GAUGES folder for this model and there is a
    WinRar file 'Nippon_Sperry_AP.cab', wondering if that might
    be part of the problem.

    A WinRar file is a compressed file similar to a zip file. But it wouldn't matter if you decompressed it because CFS2 can't use CAB guage files.

    Rami,
    No need to make a post over this. After 442 CFS2 downloads over 6 years, it is not going to be the model or anything with it..........I think I would have been kicked before now! lol

    With all my ac, I always make sure the glightstates and crashchecks are removed, which are the two main things that can cause this type of CFS2 crash.

    Bw,
    As CK states the cab is no prob as CFS2 can't read CAB files. It will be down to you installing CFS2 in Win10. If you want to, change the panel for a known working ac, see if that makes any difference. If it does, then you know it's either the panel or a gauge, and you will have to fly with another panel, not because there is a problem with the original one, but again because you have installed CFS2 in Win10.
    Next time if you have a prob just PM me and we can sort it.

    Cheers

    Shessi
