DSB/IRIS F-15C/D/J/DJ refresher project

I have been playing with IRIS Eagle lately. Model is still amazing, but stock texture are a bit dated.
Some WIP pics, more to come !
Planning on a few USAF scheme, but will focus on JSDAF J/DJ variant with an astonishing number of anniversary/special liveries. I won't cover them all !

Huub, I will take a hand at painting this one !

Here are a few tries I did to incorporate a radar (Ollson F16) and a RWR (from Isra Mirage IIIS)
Looks decent as the VC allows for backlighting at night.

Progressing on the J/DJ japanese base livery, many almost invisible details (Pilot has been fully retextured, stenciling on the airframe is as accurate as possible and many other stuff)

Thanks l'liguane! Incredible how sharp you can get these textures!

But like in the image I posted, the stripes on the tails were in orange (the Dutch national colour) outlined with very dark green (The original colour of 32TFS).

Hi Huub,

No worries, simple color switch, will do!
I got a link here : https://slyartwork.com/artwork/aircraft/
showing this very one on different years. I picked up randomly the 85-86' circa with green flash with orange underline and didn't pay attention to that detail.
next years did have that orange flash with green underline.

I've seen the "backwards" Japanese drop tank camo colors on other repaints, I wonder what the theory is behind them?

I finally found a nice package F-15C (IRIS_F-15C-D_Eagle_rev-1.zip) Uploaded at simviation by Flanker256 Jan 19, 2022! Worth the wait downloading....... Have not yet figured out how to activate radar in the panel. Really enjoy flying this beast of a beauty

it's to do with visual target acquisition and perception to disguise which way up the aeroplane is when first seen by attacking pilot.
if it can make the attacker go the wrong way it buys time if youre the intended target.

it was all based on the work of Mr P J Barley of the R.A.E (now Qinetiq) at Farnborough
