    Test Run with the Olympus

Just had to do a few test shots with my shiny new Olympus OM-D E-M1X!
One of my favorite haunts, the fishing boats at San Remo......stitched.

Still waiting for more shots from the Olympus ! As a long-time Olympus fan, it's good to see someone keeping the flame burning...

Fascinated by your rig rundown - it must be tough for you Aussies on a tight budget - Are you saving up for a graphics card ???

OK Lefty, this is fresh today, just a quick shot that was an attempt at a different 'sunset' image.

I was heading to one of the surf beaches and this caught my eye, FTR sunset was at 20:56 EDST and today was just a perfect Summer day.
    Why Olympus?
I've used Pentax for most of the time, IMHO Nikon and Cannon are just 'mainstream' and I try to avoid 'mainstream'.
The people who own my local 'Camera Shoppe' are all keen Olympus users and after researching the company I decided to consider switching.
I even made a list comparing Olympus and Pentax variations, and promptly spent more than I planned on Olympus kit!
Currently I'm discovering my Olympus........bloody thing has more controls than the Space Shuttle!

A test shot of part of Port Philip Bay just because!
Actually I wanted to see how panning and stitching would work with uncluttered frames.

Just a basic 'Summer Down Under' shot.
Another 'stitch' panorama, could be better but it is a bit scruffy due to serious resizing!
    Must do better!!!!
And I suppose I should add the graphic card(s) to my system specifications.

These are nice, W666. We need more - we are accustomed to having a great blast of summer from you, when many of us up here are freezing our butts off !

I went Olympus some years ago - the attraction was the compact nature of the gear compared to N and C, plus a really superb range of lenses.

I was indebted to a book by Darrell Young - 'Mastering the Olympus OM-D E-M1' which helped when negotiating the minefield of Olympus controls ! I once sat for half an hour in Madeira wondering what had happened to my autofocus, till I found the sliding focus ring - dohhhh....

Sadly, like so many, I have become old and lazy, and on our last trip didn't even take a camera - those phones are just too good ! Hope your excellent photography will inspire me again.

Nice pictures Wombat and like Lefty, I have turned old and lazy also. As I'm still 15 year younger then him, I might pick up my camera more often when I retire.

I think reducing the image size for publishing in the internet takes away the sharpness of your images a bit.

Meanwhile my wife pushes me to take pictures from our granddaughter with a decent camera.....
I took some and everybody was surprised to see the results

    Cheers,
    Huub
