    Problem making Vehicle Object

    Hi all
I am having trouble making my Hummel_Sd_Kfz_165 vehicle object appear in the mission builder.

Here are the routines with the Exploding objects using Allens excellent FS2004 Gamepack tutorial.

When exporting in ModelConverterX I get the following error message.

Failed to locate ModelDef.xml file. Please update the path in the options.

I also get the following message when I start the ‘make my object’ batch file.

    Could Not Find C:\Users\Stuart279\Downloads\Explo_Objs_Using_FS20 04_MCX\Complete_My_Object.bgl
    1 file(s) copied.

Pressing on I get the Scasm compilation status: ok message as shown below

    found sections: 0x00000400
    LibObj. -> entrys: 1 mem: 91492
    Linebuffer 66/614400
    Maxlabels 4/1500 Maxpatches 4/2000
    Scasm compilation status: ok

    I get the make Complete_My_Object.bgl
I place it in my SCENDB/Veh/Scenery folder, place the texture in the SCENDB/Veh/texture folder and my Object.dp file into the Object.dp
    All named ‘Hummel_Sd_Kfz_165’

It cannot be found in mission builder when I try to look up

I have deleted the filelist/dat files

    Any ideas

    Cheers
    Stuart

From what I remember ModelDef.xml is used for the FSX MakeMDL and you shouldn't need it for making objects. My guess is that the problem you are having is do to something with LODs. I know it to be super finicky and often will make LODs that have no model at all or/and will copy models from one LOD into other LODs and the FS2004 set up may even be worse with LODs but I haven't used it since I made the FS2004&MCX package way back when.

What I would do is open the model you just made in Model Converter X. In the popup window leave the variable 24 at value 0 to view the normal model or use 32767 in the value to view the damaged/destroyed model. Use the LOD drop down or use the Generate LOD popup window to see if each LOD has Triangles. Check both Normal and Damaged/Destroyed.

In the screen shot you can one of the programs did duplicate the 201/ 101 LOD model and add it to LOD 50 and made LOD 50s Triangles count larger that it should be.

    Hi Allen
I am struggling with this one.

I tried to use your Red Tube / Green tube models as per the tutorial.

The process seems to work, however I still cannot see them in mission builder.

    Cheers

Check the model with Model Converter X as something sounds wrong.

    Hi Stuart,

It might be worth trying the FS2002 Gamepack rather than the FS2004 one.

    Another mediocre weekend weatherwise.

    Cheers,

    Kevin
