I liked its virtual cockpit, but I preferred it analogical, but it's very good

I like it - great freeware and he's got a nice model and decent textures. Some people are a little upset about the G1000 NXi (usually is a G3X) but the NXi is so much more powerful in the sim than any other avionics at the moment.

The dev said it's new WIP - he's got it based off the CAP 10 flight model at the moment. It's underpowered I'd say right now. I was doing about 140-150 ktas at cruise. I think the real RV7 can do around 180 ktas at 8000 ft / 75% power. But he said he's working on it.

Other than the perf numbers, and the G1000 cockpit which isn't really changed from the default cessna setup, it's nimble and agile like the real RV7. It honestly reminds me of flying the old Baytower for FSX. You gotta be dancing on the pedals though for takeoff and landing. I'd say that's pretty realistic for that portion.

I just used polygons and painted over it. I'm not sure how to create a paintkit from scratch.... otherwise I would share it for sure!

The cruise speeds of Van's aircraft are dependent on the installed engine (usually (I)O-320, (I)O-360 and some bigger, but not normal (Van's says airframe design range is 150 to 215 HP)). The airframe never exceed speed is about 220 mph (Van's website lists "top speed" as 217 mph). So, depending on which RV-7 you are trying to simulate, 180 knots is a bigger "engined" RV-7 (especially at 75% power). I would say, 150 knots at 75% is much closer to the performance of most RV-7s.

150 ktas? Seems slow. You've flown one but I've also worked a lot of RV's as a controller and they cook. The radar is showing ground speed but I can easily guestimate their TAS based on wind. I guess I'm thinking of their book specs which I think are in mph... 207 mph at 75% power at 8000 ft. (almost 180 KTAS) Perhaps that is the more powerful engine but I'd hope the developer is making that one hehe. I need to go fast!

Saw this one pop up and as a fan of the RV series, good to get the IRL knowledge Jay. Hope to track down a good RV-8 in the future (when I make big airline pay).

Got my certificate of airworthiness 10/99 and have never regretted it one second. I think big airline pay is an illusion...do it sooner than later.
