    Layout items

In Afnor Part 1 revised GSL, Rami lists ships and planes to be d/l for layout. I assume I do not need to d/l them at this point unless I plan to use mission builder--which I don't. I am sure that any missions or campaigns will call them out if needed. Am I right?
I am still rebuilding my MTO install and am taking my time so I don't screw up the scenery this time. I will be using at Rami's recommendation--one for early MTO and one for Late MTO.

    Highpockets,
You are right. Planes and ships normally are not used in GSL scenery.
Rami has created layout files to help mission builders „populate“ the scenery. You only need these objects if you build missions using this scenery. And even then the use of these layouts is optional, you can also make your own, with different ships or planes.

    Guys,
While we're on the subject of layouts (.lay), is there any known limit to how many can be created or stored in the "Layouts" folder?

I haven,t seen anyone complain about a problem yet , but you could folder them to specific country , or Island , inside the layout folder , to cut down the load size , Just how many are you carring now ?

    Sarg Willy and others,

Limit? Not to my knowledge. I use layouts quite heavily as a timesaver, especially for harbors or airfields, as well as other needs. They are an enormous timesaver, provided you have all of the objects in that installation required for the layout. I must have several hundred of those things, easily.

Once you store up a vast reservoir of them, it cuts down mission and campaign time considerably, because rather than placing the objects every time, you can just pop the layout down, checking "in original location," and presto!

This is February vacation week, so I thought I'd say hi.

    Rami,
That's exactly why I asked. I made quite a few for AA defenses and static ground traffic around airfields. I also made some for recurring sceneries like bridges and train depots.
