I am still at it. Reworked the tail stripes...that took a bit to do as there's so many bits to align. Still havent done the Fuse bumps...or most of the lines on the tail but I'm getting there...

I think it's just the original one...quite low-res graphics, hence my efforts to go for a HD kit.
Airfile and models date to 2009. Main bimap was 2048, with the spec only 512. Mine are all 4096 so far more 'clean'...

    Edit....
I've finished the linework on the rear end...and done the fuse bumps...so apart from 'tweaks' I think I got it.
I'll run a few other paints through it and iron out the kit for upload.
The 'Volga' was a fair test as it's got metalwork, etc.

Here's the difference. The 'kit' as it is currently...main...spec...bumps..etc and on the right is the original - both at 1 to 4 reduction.
I started from the one on the right, along with my existing 225 kit...

Yes...I did my own version of that one, though I settled on 3 decks, not 2 ...

This one's done. Now to tidy up the Kit so it's usable and upload.

Probably now need to revisit the 225...as there's more tweaks to be had...

All was going well until I flew at dusk....and found the model details of the fuse didn't match the wings....so spec was all wrong.
Had to edit the model a tad....metalwork is always a pain...

Needless to say...I'll have to do the same with the 225....

    I kinda always have a go at a Qantas 'what-if'....so here's a 124 version.

Didn't realise the newer Roo is 3D .... a little more to do on this...then I can get to the Kit...

Yeah, seems Qantas works on any aircraft.

Just read the Qantas is planning on reactivating their entire A380 Fleet!

The Qantas tail painting matches another one's style...so it was easy to do....

It's all about how 'logical' the paint layout is...for the model. As much as possible...the fewer bitmaps used the better...particularly when you are trying to create a paint kit in high resolution from scratch...from reverse engineering the existing paints.
The effort involved is better 'wasted' on a native model with separate VC, etc. Piglet's planes were always logical layouts...so I did several of those....and the 225 really suffered from low res graphics...and was seemingly almost identical [it wasn't] to the 124...so one kit killed 2 birds [wasn't like that...took just as long with the 124 even after doing the 225]...

I figured that if I was going to use the modern Qantas tail I'd have to use the font..and engine details too...
Almost time to consolidate the Kit into a manageable size for upload....

First I did the 225...and thought it'd be a doddle to then do the 124.
The 124 turned out to really 'need' reverse engineering to work out where bits started and ended...particularly when it came to aligning stripes etc.
So...once I'd done that I thought it'd be a doddle to do likewise with the 225 for the same end....
It's amazing just how much blank space there is on a bitmap...that's been quaintly 'oversprayed' outside the lines.

    I'm gonna be a while...

    A WIP....

Jafo, looking forward to your 225 paints. I have some plans for the giant beast!

Now that I've remapped the boundaries of the bitmap for the 225...same as I did for the 124...I've got the modern paint of the Qantas loaded....matches the 124 in colours and spec etc.
Now I'll need to put in all the original paints again so they're tidied up as well. Then I can upload them...
