    I'm 'still' getting there.
    I have always found that doing multiple paints at once debugs a kit sooner rather than later...but I keep finding more bugs.
    Seems an alpha of black 0,0,0 in a spec bitmap does odd things.
    Was running the specs with a 255,255,255 alpha...and compensating....then went negative of the main alpha...and things looked good...other than that black...

    Still haven't bothered with dirt/weather layers...but may yet do some.
    Issue is at 4096 you can't be messing with too many layers before you max out on your proggy's mem limits. Currently the main is 3.255 gig ...kinda big for an image...

    That was always a show stopper for me, but I could never justify a new computer rig just for Photoshop. Maybe now with MSFS it makes to purchase a new gaming / photoshop rig, but that ship has sailed and is not going to happen.

    I use PSP6 which is a 32bit proggy...so has mem limitations...even though I have it set to be high-mem aware [LMA] ...otherwise I'b really be stuck.
    What I can't afford is any learning curve [and price] of a graphics proggy that might be 64bit and thus free of limits. As long as I swap out extra layers from time to time [and save often in case it locks up and doesn't "unmerge"] then all's good.
    Needless to say, 2048 res is a walk in the park - mem wise ...

    Got the 225 to invert...and check the spec on its bum.
    Looks like the original build was all painted...but it went metal bottom with the current commercial use.
    Next step is to paint the original USSR version...

    Nothing more annoying than getting it all 'right' and only then noticing I'd left out the 'dash' in the callsign. Only 3 separate bitmaps to correct...and then I'll find something else....

    Oh, on metal wings that ends up as 8 bitmaps if they're top and bottom....

    These are still running around as 8,8,8 bitmaps...not compiled to DDS yet...but I reckon I have 3 done...just need to do that original version...prior to the blue and yellow stripes.

    An existing what-if that has been pretty much fully redrawn, particularly to become metal. It 'was' already 4096 but specs and bumps weren't, and by the time the lines are redone with the bumps nothing's the same...

    Lots of reworking...finding bits that were NQR ....the earlier version of the commercial transport...nose blackout...stripes...'stage III' on the engines...etc. There's still an older ver...with black radome, etc....and Ruskie flags on the tail...

    I'll upload my paints separately [as I usually do] and also a separate paint kit ...though that's currently massive and needs to be rationalized....just the fuselage kit to do specs alphas and main is 3.2 gig.....then there's another 2 kits for the wings. The bumps may as well be pre-packaged...as they don't change....other than the what-if passenger windows...

    Before Covid, the crew of the An-225 would sometimes allow for an impromptu open house for those who just happened to be working in close vicinity of the aircraft. I missed such an opportunity but my friend (who was surveying the security fence line) was able to get aboard and he said there we no off-limits areas within the aircraft/cockpit. He was very impressed with the aircraft and the hospitality of the crew!

    The hospitality of the flight crews are spectacular. The first time the An-124 visited EAA in '89 it showed up the Saturday before the show. As members my Dad and I were able to get on the show grounds as we already had our weeks passes. They had the 124 parked on the taxiway off of 18-36 and were letting people just go wherever in the plane. I was in the pilot's seat (and my Dad was in the co-pilot's seat when one of the Russians came to my seat. I started to get up but he patted my shoulder said "No, stay.", reached across me for something (I assume it was the parking brake) and we started rolling! They had hooked up the tug and were towing us into the plaza with my 14 year old butt in the pilot's seat! We hung around outside while the two Su-26 aerobatic planes were unloaded.

    Oh well....
    Just when you think you have it...and have spent ages going off at a tangent instead...
    Seems there may have been a naked bum version at some stage...but generally/currently the bum is light blue.
    I think I've now found 5 distinct variations on just one plane built.
    Going back to the first...that is...current one...undoing a whole swag of things...then reinventing alphas and specs yet again....
    I can absolutely say for certain that I might be close....or not....light blue needs a tweak....

    After all the work and rework on the 'current' paint I'll have to move on to the 124...just to justify the effort, though knowing my luck the models will have even more different properties. The alpha shine on the fuse is a heck of a lot different to the wings...so by the time you have 4 layers involved...main...alpha...spec...spec alpha there's a whole world of hurt involved chasing your tail.
    I gave up and treated the main, spec, and spec alpha the same...and only altered the alpha to make sense of things...but have a feeling I'd also need to change the wing white to be less white than the fuse. I have both at 240,240,240....but maybe the wings need to be 230 or darker....

    Gonna have to stop sometime....ended up with the wings at 235,235,235 while the fuse was still 240.

    Got the white into the intakes...as that was yet another thing omitted...
