    Sarg Willy,

Because I'm just using it for work and CFS2, blazing processor speed was not a priority. Here is information on the processor: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php....00GHz&id=3558

    • 10th Gen Intel Core i5-1035G1 Processor 1.0 GHz
    • 12GB DDR4-2666MHz SDRAM (1-DIMM)
    • 1TB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive; DVD Writer (writes to DVD/CD)
    • 17.3" WLED-backlit FHD, IPS (1920 x 1080) Display
    • Full-size island-style backlit keyboard with numeric keypad

I may upgrade this to a SSD at some point: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    Charging port

    Hello Rami.

I notice you have a H.P. kit. I have just got mine back from warranty repair due to the 12.5mm diameter right angle plug on the lead ended pushing the pin assy. on the motherboard right into the computer due to bad design of the clamp. Lasted four months.... The concern I have is it will happen again due to the assy. not being strong enough to last any longer than the first.

My late wife's H.P. has a plug socket nearly three times the diameter and after around eight years is still perfect.

I never new about all this until I went onto the net while mine was away and found an uproar over the problem. Folks trying to get a class action going and others having to purchase the replacement parts knowing they are just changing naff for naff. A square wheel....

H.P. received an email from me but their arrogance appears to have got in the way, or maybe they couldn't find a P.C. which worked. Cheap and nasty.

    Good luck mate, Graham.

    Arfyhun,

I had that happen on my old HP laptop too. Luckily, I know a good computer shop only a few miles away from me, and it's not an expensive fix if it happens.

I finally R/xd my kit back yesterday. With extreme care I felt the verticle/transverse solidity of the clamp. Result; poor.

It must be a great help to have a computer fixer handy buy the problem is still there. Imagine if you had to keep changing on your car, lets say, the altenator. It would render your motor barely functional. Both come under the umberella of an inbuilt flawed design, meaning the machine is not fit for purpose.

I am about to write again to Argos, who sold me the kit, and inform them under the Consumers Act 2015 the P.C. is not fit for purpose. This means the second step comes into force. This gives me the opportunity to request a price reduction.

However, as the computer is suffering from an inbuilt flaw, as against it being just a one-off failure, stage two is skipped an I shall be requesting my money back.

This they have to do or we will be ending up in a Small Claims court.

I have better things to do with the few years left to me than to buying a stock of more flawed replacement parts just to keep taking the kit apart every three months or so just to be able to use it!

Just shows how much H.P. test their computers before putting them up for sale to the public and their lack of bother afterwards...

    $hyte in; $hyte out!

I'll keep you updated soonest Rami.

    Graham.

HP have always produced crap. (Their China manufacturer is/was terrible). My old laptop was a HP and luckily a local computer shop had literally a full rack of broken ones from which to scavenge parts. In the end, my system was a Frankenstein laptop: the result of items from 3 different chassis. Their main problem was phony heatsink paste and a piece of ordinary foam on top of the video chip. The CPU and GPU literally unsoldered themselves from the motherboard due to heat.
