Thanks UT. Off to follow that up.

...These look like nice additions. Options for repainting and alternative markings.

Yes indeed. Peter has kindly consented to helping me with the needed balloons for the Rickenbacker Campaign development as well as allowing me to use his WWI aircraft previously posted at Simviation. More later.

Any room for basket occupants in the DPs?

It's possible via dp payload I'd think

Would be great to have these for my WWI FS2004 install. Is it possible?

Possibly, if made with fsds2 (or higher) or gmax.

Remove the .dp, .CDP , and .DBK files, these are damage and weapons files that will cause fs2004 to crash to desktop...then add the UI section into the aircraft.cfg and give it a try.

Most CFS2 models ( but not all) will happily run in Fs2004,
just a matter of trial and error.

No. If made with fsds2 /3 or gmax, will drop right in to fs2004 usually without any changes to model format.

The reason for a fs2004 to cfs conversion is to make it able to receive and display damage from weapons and the like which fs2004 doesn't do.

Ps... you have asked this before...

I know this is for a Rickenbacker Campaign, but balloons were Frank Luke's (second leading American ace) target of choice.

  13. #13
True. Rickenbacker talks about Luke in his autobiography. Rickenbacker himself destroyed three and credits Luke as his inspiration to first go after them.

Indeed I did, Pete.. Thanks for reminding me

Jeez, my memory is not what it used to be.

In the meanwhile, I stuck in the missing ui_ types, changed the sound (?) & put in a panel, that of Unreal Aviation's Enterprise Airship, So, I'll see what happens tomorrow.

    Hi All,
If you want to have a balloon at height in a mission change the static_cg_height entry in the aircraft config. file from 45.00 to the height you would like. Such as static_cg_height=1500.00 then place in the mission as infrastructure.

    Hope this helps,
    B24Guy

Thanks, but I just want to be able to fly it in FS2004, no missions. I have a Vintage install, with WWI stuff in it, so this will be ideal.

If the balloon shows up in FS2004, try substituting the air file and flight dynamics in the cfg file with those from a FS2004 airship.

Lightbulb Another version of the WWI Parseval observation balloon

FYI, there is also another version of the WWI Parseval observation balloon (in German, British, and French markings) done by Gary Aumauger. They have the advantage of already having a panel. You can download it from the Free Flight archive here at SOH: http://sim-outhouse.com/freeflight/W...Aircraft2.html
