Beatifull... but deadly

Flying the Cessna Aerobat from Kuujuak to Shefferville, ± 3 and a half hour long trip. Weather was 9/10 overcast and temperature was under freezing point. About 30 nm from Shefferville came this;



Beautifull, isn't it? But going through this means turning into an icicle (and icicle don't fly well). I had been flying between 15 and 20 hundred feet all the way to keep clear of the overcast. But this was fog and well above 2,000 feet. So I decided to go full throttle and climb over 3,000 and hope for the best.

Yipee! Just high enough but not too high. But the runway was still 20 nm away.



Turning to the right, my only hope was that they weren't in my path or, even worst, over the runway.



The airport was just to the right of that last column, with a few miles to spare before final.

Beautifull and deadly.
