BSK Spit VB trop 79RAAF skinpack UT.zip

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Skins - British

Description: BSK_Spitfire VB trop 79RAAF Skinpack by UncleTgt

This is a collection of repaints for the Spitfire VB (trop) made by Brunosk for CFS 2.

I've modified the cockpit glass colour & reduced the model shine. I've made the 2D panel bitmap WIN 7+ safe, & developed a "hotter" airfile & new DP file so the AI will fly & fight better.

The textures are: UP - P JG807 circa July '43. This a/c, flown by Sgt. Ian Callister, claimed a ki-61b Tony as 79 sqns first kill on 31-OCT-43.

UP - V A58-145 circa December '43. F/Lt Llewellyn Wettenhall lost off coast of New Britain during a sweep operation, cause unknown.

UP - H A58-141 circa February '44. F/O Albert N Tassicke bailed out due to engine trouble 03-FEB-44, during a Beaufort escort mission to New Britain & was subsequently rescued by PBY & PT Boat.

To install, unzip the download to a temporary location & move/ copy files to the matching folder names inside your chosen CFS 2 install.

Thanks to: Brunosk for the original aircraft.

Allen for his DOSmdlc_2, making shine & mdl size changes possible in WIN7+.

Arno Gerretsen for ModelconverterX, such a clever & versatile tool.

Martin Wright for so many useful tools, in this case in particular MDLmat allowing aircraft model material transparency & colour changes.

Kelticheart for his prop bitmaps & exhaust effects.

This is freeware and subject to the usual conditions.

At this rate there will need to be more facilities on places like Goodenough Island to handle the extra squadrons.

    First rate work!

Beautiful repaints, Uncle Tgt, thank you!

I always had the problem with the BSK Spitfires that the AI didn‘t shoot at the enemy. Did you manage to fix this with the new files?

I‘m on the road and therefore cannot try them out right now, that‘s why I ask.

    Hiya Skylane!

It was a simple DP edit to change the cannon trigger to MG trigger & gun type from "cannon" to "MG" in the GUNSTATIONS section of the DP.

Lousy for the Player - he can't choose cannon or MG so needs to watch his ammo, but the AI (friendly AND enemy) don't worry about bullets or fuel, so it makes "mixed" armament fighters much more dangerous (for you)

Try changing the A6M (or a bf109) & go fly against them - you'll see what I mean

UncleTgt, thanks for the info about the DP. Now, if I want individual control of guns and cannon in the player airplane I can still make an „AI“ version with the modified DP and hand-edit any missions to use this for the wingmen.
It is one additional plane counting towards the 100 plan limit, though.

However, (off topic) I still wonder why other planes that are also armed with cannon and MGs, like the Zero or the Me-109 attack, while the BSK Spitfire with the original DP does not..
