    Alphasim Mirage IV

David Bushell did the Alphasim Mirage IV. I have always been a real fan of this bird. I'm a retired Naval Aviator, and this Mirage and the B-58 are the slickest (looking, sounding etc.) aircraft this side of a SR-71. I am trying to garner support for getting it converted to P3Dv4/v5 standard. I have tried (unsuccessfully) to contact David directly. Any support would be most appreciated!
Best regards to all of you, Wings of Gold (Bill)

Amazingly, I still have the source files 16 years later!

I would need to redo the animations, but should be possible relatively quickly, then with a little texture experimentation should be possible to add PBR for P3D.

The model came from FS9 if I'm not mistaken, so I would need to look at the xml that goes behind the RATO, but should be possible.

Well, if you can do all of that, you should also be able to make a version for MSFS, I'm hoping anyway. I know you're working on the Blackbirds and then probably the B-58. But after that, I would love to have the Mirage IV in MSFS.

Its nice to have a distraction from the Blackbirds TBH.

While I'm redoing the animations I'm not, unless I really get carried away, going to improve the model in any way - really it would need a complete remake, both inside and outside which would take a long time at a time when I have no time already!

Bringing her into P3D v4+ will be awesome enough David.

Apologies, been away for a couple of days.

I've begun working on sorting the animations out, and I will continue to work on bringing it forwards

Hi David,Would it be possible to get another update? I certainly do not want to bother you (when you have very kindly volunteered to do the conversion) - but my interest/anticipation is getting the best of me.Best regards,Bill

Apologies for the slow reply, I do this as a side line to my regular day job, and this year has been tough (for everyone) and time has been pretty limited.

Here are some screenshots of the 'A' model Mirage IV.

    Note:

    • The model is 16 years old, I did things very differently back then, so this is not a reflection of current work!
    • Most gauges were old school gau, I have no idea how to convert them to 64 bit and therefore most of the panel is broken.
    • There are texture errors in places, rebuilding the model is not feasible since it was created so very long ago (16 years) and I have had to resort to Model Converter X to get it into P3D.
    • Using MCX has currently removed the VC model. I'm thinking of ways to get that back.
    • PBR textures are placeholders for anyone wishing to improve them, I've not dabbled with PBR very much and I'm still very much learning.

David, there is a simple trick to extract the VC (interior model) from a FS9 aircraft model using MCX:

    1. Set MCX Options > Importer settings > SCASMReader > Use conditions = UserSpecified
    2. Import the FS9 aircraft model - the "Set condition variables" panel pops up.
    3. Change the gen_model variable from 2 to 1, hit the "Set" button

    Henk.

    Hi,
With only the addition of a few gauges, I got this:
It is of course possible to add others such as HSI, radio stack, AOA etc.

That's great news, thanks for the tips, will take a look at that.
