At this very moment I am downloading the Section F8 F-86E for FSX at SIMVIATION.

It looks like full FSX. Don't know if it's a demo...it's in worn Flight Sim Nation colors. But a complete aircraft with lots of extra fun stuff. Looks like this great group has done it again.

As I can't afford any of the great new aircraft mentioned in these forums this could be fantastic news :woot:

It says FSX SP2 ready so, we shall see. (39.7mb seems a bit small though?)

    Sloooow download too.

I thought it was too good to be true.
As far as I'm concerned SP2 ready means DX10 compatible.
    This isn't.

Well, I guess you should always read the "README" file first. It states: "It is by no means a full FSX upgrade with a true FSX model file; this will be done by SectionF8 themselves."
Sorry I got it wrong. See the other thread that I missed before I started this one.

Its true I was too impatient to read the README first.
Never mind. The VC view gives you a nice preview of how good the true FSX version will be when its released.

Yes, but it is FSX SP2 compatible, not native FSX SP2.
The native FSX SP2 model is still being developped, it's not ready, not available yet.

If you fly in DX9 mode, what does it matter if its not FSX native ? As long as the frame rates are fine, theirs plenty of eye candy then I am happy. In fact some native fsx models I have tried clobber my computer, so I take each on its own merits.

I know, and I have a LOT of FS9 planes in my FSX hangar.
The advantages of the native FSX aircrafts is that:
    - you get much better FPS
    - you are guaranteed that all the engine gauges work properly (problems with starters are common in FSX, the HS.748 from Rick Piper is just one of the best examples)
    - you don't have any display issue with the canopies and propeelers appearing behind the clouds
    - you can use the Bloom effect
    - you get the self-shadow
I have this Sabre in my FSX hangar, but as soon as the native model will be released, the compatible one will be deleted and replaced.
