Just saying those might help issues you are having with the xml.
If you are using Shaders30 you need therm as GC ones may work in daytime. I'll get back tomorrow on TOW Searchlights.

Several comments.
1. Could admin make this a sticky?
2. If you use Win10, or even Win7, I suggest you change the location to C:\ main folder as in C:\CFS3 BOB MkI, or similar.
3. Also; in that case, and Win 7; Properties; Set all exe files to Win SP3 compatibility and run as administrator. It will work without but this often seems to resolve issues.
4. To keep with the period, you could delete the following aircraft as all after 1941 for sure. Only the 2 P47's need to be kept.

Just given the new Battle of Britain a spin.
Very impressed!
Great range of new aircraft. Great to see the Italians represented as well.
I do wish had known the campaigns had changes! Took of for my first campaign mission flying a Hurricane for the RAF to intercept enemy aircraft over the coast and we were bounced ME 110's. I shot 1 down and was credited with it!
Great update to an already fantastic Battle of Britain sim.
Mongoose,
It would have been nice to have given Talon some credit for the missions he made and you upgraded for this BOB upgrade.

I did do a readme giving credit to all, so it must not have been included. This is what it said.

These missions are not my own work, but other people’s hard work. I have just changed the aircraft, and in some cases, facilities and spawns, to be compatible with the BoB install.
I am not clear on the original authors of some of these but I know:-
1. All missions starting with
2-AA-BoB-
AA-BoB-
X-BA-BoB-
ZAA-BoB-
are from Ruff Wulfmann
2. All missions with ‘HH’ in their name are from Owen HouseHobbit
3. Missions starting with ‘BoB_xx_xxx’ I believe were done my the late Talon
There are one or two other missions, the authors of which I am uncertain but I imagine Loic Led Zeppelin did some; probably the ‘ETO BoBxxx’. My acknowledgments and thanks to him and anyone else’s work that I have altered, especially if I neglected to ask their permission. I did post on SOH to ascertain as many authors as I could.
Some comments:
I have not actually flown all these missions, but I have run them through the mb app to check they are viable and also ,in most cases, at least seen that CFS3 initiates them.
Some of Wulfmann’s are interesting in that the players job is to escort ,or follow as wingman, other aircraft, so some skill is involved.
Some of the overviews, etc., may not be to one’s taste, but mostly I have left them as they were.

In case anyone is interested the BOB missions by Talon were originally from CFS1 and he converted them to CFS2 and did them for CFS3.

So how is everybody enjoying it?

So far so good.
Downloaded on release day, found a couple of minor bugs, (see above), and then bam end of weekend and back to work.
Will try to get a few hours this coming weekend as the weather does not look like an RC weekend.
Only flown one mission but everything looks and sounds great! Seems better than ETO now, also nice to have a lot more missions.
Only problem I have, is no dynamic gunsight reticle. I found that the aircraft xpd was missing the dynamic gunsight effects line, but adding that didn't help. The sight looks different than the old stock sight. Do I need another static gunsight entry?
I added this install to what I had before, it already had the shaders installed.
I didn't use a new name for this install, and after I ran the config I didn't have to fix the user config overrides, they stayed the same as they were. That seemed strange to me.
Anybody have any ideas?
Up and running here!
And I see the Hurricane at least now has a functional rear-view mirror!
I added mine to an upgraded Cfs3 install and also experienced some issues with effects. I eventually installed the package to a fresh Cfs3 install and then checked that everything was working. I then added shaders and the asset folder from Diawiletti's upgrade package(I love the upgraded terrain) and it worked fine.

Well almost! It's actually an Artificial Horizon gauge but with a scenery texture added. I find it useful to know which way up I am when things get a bit hairy! And I see the Hurricane at least now has a functional rear-view mirror!

So, no - but neither does an artificial horizon dressed up as a rearview mirror. The advantage of a reflective material is that the reflection in the mirror changes with the aircraft's attitude and a 'painted' reflection does not. CFS3 does not support real, working mirrors (yet?) and the reflection by a material certainly isn't as sharp as a real mirror but it shows a very discernable ground/air division. But I wanted to express my respect for Clive's ingenuity .
[EDIT: as not to hijack this thread, I continued the subject of the rearview mirror here: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforum...01#post1239901]

All I've tried, Hurricane Mk I 303, Hurricane Mk I 257, Spitfire Mk I 609, Spitfire Mk I 54, SJ Spitfire Mk IIA EBH, Bf 109 E 77.
Some of the aircraft have 2 folders, like the BoB Hurri Mk1 303 and BoB2 Hurri Mk1 303. Is it supposed to be like that? I didn't know which one the game used so I added the gunsight to both. Most of the time when these duplicate folders occur, one folder or the other has the .xdp and a .xpd.tmp file. Is this normal?
Thanks
Bob
None of the aircraft in this install have the dynamic reticules, it was too much extra work. There are some aircraft which are duplicated but they have different markings. I've just noticed a glitch, one of the 303 Hurricanes has it's country set as Poland, the other Britain. So they appear under different nationalities.
Another for the fix list!

Enjoying the new BoB but I am experiencing extremely long load times to get it up and running. 10 mins plus!
Anyone else had this?
Mine loads up pretty quickly, much more so than the ETO.
You can speed it up by adding items to the preload.xml, check out the ETO install version for pointers.

@ Daiwilletti. David, what's your opinion on installing BoB Alpha and MkI over your CFS3standard plus? I am thinking it might be an improvement , but on the other hand, the BoB install might remove a lot of those improvements?
I was looking at the preload xml to see what was involved. Seems to be all dds files, mainly effect related ones. What exactly can go in there?
