The A-7 was a wonderful airplane.... I miss seeing them.
Great aircraft, Pete! I was a sophomore in High School that year, but on my first cruise (Med) in 1969, there were plenty on the Saratoga. Va-75 and Va-46.
Charlie Awaiting the new Microsoft Flight Sim and will eventually buy a new computer. Running a Chromebook for now!
I worked on them at my first duty station at Pax River 73-76. A-7 Plane Captain, before going to the AME shop.
4.5 years broken service, then reenlisted in Dec. 80
VA-15 81-84
VA-83 87-90 When I first reported to VA-83, they were just coming back from their last A-7 cruise, and then they began transition to Lawn Darts.
Not sure when this picture was taken, but it was before I reported to 83.
And later that same afternoon, the first "Great White" wound up eating it's first sailor.
Have fun, all!

Inactive now...
Sorry guys, but I've just gotta say it... Truly one of the ugliest, unloved aircraft ever flown by the U.S. Air Force! However, an avionics troop's dream compared to the mighty Phantom II...
Cheers
