Thread: WW1_Western_Front scenery package!

    Hi All,
Progress is being made. I have managed to split Stiz's hedge into top, sides, and ends.
Now I have to get the textures to line up.

    Regards,
    B24Guy

    Hi All,
Well here is what I came up with.
Maybe someone with painting skills can improve on my attempt.

    Hi Scott,

The BGL is compressed. Here is the uncompressed version and the 3ds file for the hedge. Looking at it in Model Converter X, it is a bit blurry.

    Hi Scott,

Thanks very much - a great improvement. Edward Scissorhands would be proud of you.

    Cheers,

Here's a comparison of the two hedges. I think the new Stiz one needs to be reduced to half the height. The Martin Wright one is two dimensional.

    Hi Kdriver,
Thank you for the MW hedge bgl. I like it better. I am going to see if the "rotate to aircraft" can be disabled.
Then draw a reversed image so the hedge could be seen from both sides.

    Regards,
    B24Guy

P.S. Well they don't rotate to aircraft and are textured on both sides. I do seem to have a problem with viewing distance going to see if I can influence that.

    Hi Kdriver,
I took your suggestion and reduced the height of the hedge. I though they were too wide so I narrowed them.
A better paint job and I think they are a winner.

With the height adjustment and removing rotate to aircraft both hedges will be very useful. Thanks Scott and Kevin!
Would these affect frame rates in Normandy? (thinking of all those hedges)

Mike, I have an empty layout and associated GSL file which I use for testing the scale of new or converted objects. I usually use the RAF type and his girlfriend on the Norton motorbike for gauging the size of buildings.

I chose some extensive flat land in Holland at sea level for placing the objects. I needed a large area to test the Gius villages.

    Hi All,
Although I am not a painter I think I did a little better.
New hedge textures and a GSL with changes to the hedge positions, more guns added, and railway parts warehouse on the mole raised.

    Naval Guns Walkabout

Just back from a tour of the coast. All looks in order except for this set of wandering guns...

Looking good now, especially with a new plane.

    Kevin and Scott,

My pic above is not very clear. If you look to the left of the aircraft you will see 4 naval guns without revetments.

  16. #166
    Hi Ravenna,
I loaded the GSL that came with the original package. The guns have no revetments in that GSL.
Do you want just the large revetments around them?

    Kdriver,
Thanks for the comment on the hedges. The texture mapping on the model is strange which makes it difficult to paint.

    Regards,
    B24Guy

    B24Guy,

The revetments have been located closer to the coast and a little further south from the guns. As there don't seem to be any other structures near the guns I'm assuming that it is the guns which have wandered. It would be good to see them back in their pits so, yes please...the large revetments.

  18. #168
    Ravenna,

Your saying the gun pits are already in the GSL. I can't seem to find them.
Could you give me some directions to them?

    Regards,
    B24Guy

I can't find any empty gun emplacements around Ostend.

  21. #171
    Hi All,
    I guess the options are...
    1. Delete the guns.
    2. Add revetments at current location.
    3. Move guns and add revetments.

    Any suggestions?

    Regards,
    B24Guy

Yeah, I guess just put revetments under the guns as they are. If we find the empty pits we can put camo over them and use them to grow mushrooms

    Hi Chaps,

Whether intentional or not, the guns are actually placed at the correction location of the Tirpitz Battery which comprised of four 11 inch guns.

    Yes, revetments just need adding.

    Cheers,
    Kevin

Yep, when I looked at my reference map it could only have been the Tirpitz battery. Would it be useful if I send the layout for the Flanders Marinekorps gun batteries?
