    Type IXD2 uboat for Fs9

    Hi Folks,
Been messing about with porting in stuff again. This time from the sub-sim series 'Silent Hunter II, III and IV'.

Lots of beautiful models, and superb tex. This is from SH3 , a huge uboat cruiser, the 1600t type IXD2..and these models/texs are from 2005!

Fitted basic ani's etc, diving, periscope, schnorkel and crew.

Anyway, a bit of fun. With the testers at the moment.

    Cheers

    Thanks

The U-boat pen from Lionheart's Valkyrie is a bit too tight for this huge sub.......

I want to place the sub in the water.... NOT in a runway of the Seattle airport!
The readme does not address that... the first screen is a periscope view... (reticle)
A second view (shows the shadow... no sub... on the tarmac)
I need a 1,2,3 of how to place it in water... with seaplanes... I usually chose something like a water spot in the Pearl Harbor runways....

You might want to select a waterplane base, or whatever you call it.

Runways are terribly difficult to submerge...

    Hi G,
As Priller says, select either a water take off point at the flight selection stage, or select a base near water and move the uboat to it, pressing the 'Y' key and then move the uboat about with the joystick, press F1 to lower it into the water and then press 'Y; again to release it.

    Huub,
Yes it's a big b*gger isn't it! 287ft/88m long, the biggest of all uboats, makes the Type VIIC look small. And the schnorkel invented by your fellow countrymen.

    G,

Try South River in Maryland. It is one of the many Seaplane bases in the US. I remain submerged as it is enemy territory!

I see a tweaked version of this has been uploaded at flightsim.com, ( by one of the usual plagiarist suspects) already.

    Hi Pete,
    Like your loyalty! lol

But, Erwin did it for FSX with my full knowledge and help, but it can also be used in FS2004. I uploaded his FSX version here, but TBH originally I lost a little interest in it and didn't make it with a VC, as I thought most people will want to sail it from the external or 2D view, for a bit of fun. So yes, use his by all means.

I will be doing the standard Type VIIC and advanced Type XXI at some point, and those will have all the 'bells and whistles' in Fs9.

    Cheers

Thanks for explaining, I was a bit confused when I saw 'another' sub.
Thanks, again, for your supporting of our favourite sim, with interesting & unusual stuff!
