Oh, some of these fixes should help the performance on my system. I'm definitely looking forward to testing it tonight. I'll have to see if some of the planes still enter a stall with the game paused, lol. I was just hitting the escape key to act as pause in the meantime, when I had to step away.

Healthy amount of improvements here, very happy so far with their patch releases

    Thanks for posting, Tom.

Thanks, downloading now. One question please. Where in the game can I check version number?

I think if you are at the main menu and you click on your Username in the upper right hand corner, where you select servers and such, it displays the current version number. Currently updating so can't confirm 100%, but I'm almost certain that's where it is.

You can also just switch to Windowed mode and get it from the top-left corner.

As for the d/l size, somebody fibbed. I've already exceeded the 13+ and it's still going!

Mine shows 15.69 GiB...nearly there at 14.84. Might have to check out Sally if the wind issue is really fixed.
Expect banging, belching and an occasional manly fart as you roar down the runway at full power. (I have found that the engine can make similar noises)

I ended up at 21.39 GB. It's installing now.

Things are better...the winds aloft etc are finally fixed. The added voices need some work. The female AI voice spells out the number 1 as ONE, so when changing frequencies it will say "Contact Albuquerque Center on ONE 25.4". Humorous and annoying at the same time. I did go down to Pensacola to see how the weather was...very rainy and low visibility with realistic winds and turbulence. I'll stick to the Southwest for today.

I haven't installed the update yet, but, up to this point, I kept wondering why they were directing me to runway 3 when they wanted me to go 32... till I realized it was a super long pause between 3 and 2 with no pause to my N number or whatever else was after telling me which runway to use, so it was runway 3... 2508 instead of runway 32...508

My first impressions are pretty good. Improved loading times are noticeable, lowering the refresh rate of the displays has improved the performance of the Extra 330 quite a lot and the winds now seem mostly accurate, though the data they have for wind in the middle of the ocean, for example, doesnt seem very accurate. At airports and near land though it's great.

    Very pleased so far

Very oddly, I see the current version is listed the same as the patch but nothing downloaded before, I don't see the improvements on certain aircraft that are in the list. Am I missing something or did the update get pulled or what?

Load up the Beech Baron. If you have an altitude select knob, then you got the patch.

I also noticed improved frames, but I'm iffy about the weather. I just loaded up the TBM at Montgomery AL and was only getting 3kt winds on the ground. Latest metar shows 22 with gusts of 30+. But overall, I'm happy. I no longer have time to make lunch while it loads, and flying over London with the ORBX landmarks package renders very smooth frames!

WOW, the update has uninstalled the whole thing. totally lost. Having to reinstall 120 gb of game again. Very special.

My installation will now no longer run any FSX-imported aircraft (not just Flight Replicas). Loading any imported aircraft just crashes the sim once the aircraft is loaded for take-off. Tried re-installing them, but no change. Any one else have this?

Apparently the patch completely removed the ability to set dead zones or sensitivities for a control axis, and introduced fun new bugs where some autopilots randomly turn off and refuse to reengage, the Baron G1000 randomly shuts off, and the Garmin avionics will refuse to load approaches for no apparent reason.

Given that it took two weeks to get the installer to work properly, I assume we'll be able to adjust control sensitivities again some time in October.

    Updating as I post.

Slow bandwidth with the fires and lockdowns so it will take some time.

I suppose it would be too much to ask for MS to allow for 3DStudio Max 2015 compatibility.
I'm not inclined to accept a 75% depreciation on my $4K perpetual license to opt for eternal monthly software rental higher than an average car payment in order to continue developing into the "Future of Flight Simulation".

Hopefully Arno might find a clever solution.

Something is seriously wrong on my end, last night everything was normal, scenery looked perfect. Today, I open FS2020 up, it's not connecting to the scenery servers or market place and I have FSX looking scenery. My local Net connection is normal so that's not the issue. It's showing I have the indicated patch version but obviously it's not in the actual software. Something is very screwed up on their end fore sure. I also took note they were doing routine server maintenance today (at the same time as a major update???). I think somebody got their wires crossed over at MS. Well, we shall see if they manage to get this sorted out as some of us can't get the update nor use the Sim as intended.

Widespread reports of major issues with this patch borking the sim and likely to the point that once they do fix it in a month or two, you'll need th completely reinstall the sim and set up everything from square one. I'm not sure they have doing the major QC/Beta testing but boy, they goofed bigtime on this. SMH!

Confirmed. Thought it was my update crash and reload that caused that. Clickspots in aircraft randomly disable after a few minutes of flying. Oh well.

Damn, reading all of this, I'm hoping I can fly it without updating.

  25. #25
Yeah, their support forums and Facebook are getting smacked hard over this. What a mess! Not sure what went wrong but until it's fixed, I am out of FS2020.
