    Dangerous Ships in Sydney harbor

Was trying Sydney scenery yesterday and saw this "Face off" between two gas carriers, two containerships and one tanker:

If any of them moves forward there is going to be a major explosion!!!

not sure if these are stationary or AI. I have not seen ships anywhere else so far.

    Haha, that is pretty funny!!

I did a flight the other day around Juneau, Alaska and saw a couple container ships.

It looks like a lot of work needs to be done

... and it seems Henrik Nielsen has a big new field of action...

Now I know why I didnt notice any traffic in MSFS yet.
    They all sank.

@Bomber_12th, slider for AI water traffic 100% or less?

I have them at 100% - same for road traffic, just so that the parking lots at all of the airports are full of cars too.

    Any AI boat wakes?

    Hi Bomber_12th

Iīve seen some statements from FS2020 users that they do not see any ship wakes when exploring ai boat traffic in their FS 2020. Now - looking here on one of your screenshots (see above) - rear wakes clearly to see... Can you confirm that this boat is moving with it wakes or is it possibly a static boat scenery?

Thank you for your feedback (Rem: I have not yet bought FS 2020 to look myself foran answer).

    Many greetings RS

Yes, every one of the boat types seen pictured in my screenshots, except for the cruise ship (which was moving), produces wakes. The "mega yacht" in my first shot also has a wake behind it in the screenshot. Those without wakes, besides the cruise ship, were parked at the time (either at the beginning or end of their loop). I purposely avoided posting several more screenshots I had also taken with the wakes showing, as the shots weren't as nice, but I can take some more to just show that the wakes do work (but are not better than default FSX at this stage). There are some areas too, like in San Francisco Bay, where there are some large ships that are static only.

    Hi Bomber_12th

thanks for your feedback. Yes - I would like to see some more screenshots of FS2020 ai boats with working wakes. I donīt know wether there are other guys interested in such screenshots.

Maybe itīs also possible for you to make some screenshots of ai ships in stormy, heavy weather?

    Many greetings

Here are some more quick captures around Seattle this morning. All of the small boat traffic produces wakes, but the cruise ships and large container ships do not (right now).

    Hi Bomber_12th

    ...nice pics
    to see...

It looks like MS2020 needs at this early stage some more work to be done. I think rear wakes for the big liners are mandatory as well as wakes for the bows for all ships...

An exiting question is for me: What system specification/ affordable (!) performance will be needed for MS2020 to run it smooth when adding

o ... all bugs are killed
    o ... several 3rd party addons sceneries and/or airplanes/helicopters are installed (?)
o ... more ship traffic (with rear/bow wakes) is installed
    o ...

    (PS1 : If I remember correctly
some videos give the impression that wakes also needed for this fine ICON A5 bird ...when landing on the water - shown in some of your pics...)
(PS 2: Has somebody seen the oil riggs in the Gulf of Mexico and/or Arabian Gulf; in the North Sea....?)

    Thx

    RS

You'll be waiting a loonnnnnggg time for all bugs to be killed. We're still waiting for them in FSX...
Bugs are a feature of software. They will never be able to kill them all. I'm having a great time using the software as it is.

The Asobo/MS developers, in their Q&A interviews prior to launch, spoke about how the launch/release is just the beginning for the development of this sim, and they have a lot more in-store in the months and years ahead (they have always spoken of a 10-year post-release continued development schedule, and they hope for longer). The alpha/beta testers asked about wakes and water spray for the Icon A5 and boat traffic, as well a contrails, and they responded that it was still in the works. During the weeks prior to the launch version being released, Asobo said that their cockpits team alone were squashing 50 bugs a day (autopilots/avionics related), and that is likely something that hasn't stopped or slowed down. We will get free monthly Sim Updates (every 2-3 months) to fix issues like that and add new features like effects, support for helicopters, and other content. They are keeping it to every 2-3 months so that each update will be much more significant/meaningful (the patch being released shortly is more of an immediate "hot fix" and is not one of those Sim Updates). This is in addition to the free World Updates which will also be released every 2-3 months, but on a different schedule.

Thanks for this info on the wakes... I have a few hundred and for now I will let them rest...

Meanwhile Marc - Flying V - on pilote-virtuel.com has managed to move the whole Global AI Ship Traffic into MSFS in one go... More on that in my own thread here on sim-outhouse in the coming days.

And ps... the dangerous ship formation in this thread is the result of using a good old FSX definition "Cargo" in the ai ship route definition. Same problem would have occurred with careless traffic planning in FSX.... I saw the same in San Fransisco on my first flight there, but can promise it won't happen in the Global AI Ship Traffic
