    A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category P3D / P4D Add-Ons - Civilian aircraft

Description: FSX Noorduyn Norseman on floats Converted from FS 2004 to Native FSX/P3d UPDATED

I screwed up in the original upload in the Model cfg. this fixes the problem.

The Noorduyn Norseman was built from 1935 until 1959. The have been used all over the world in both civil and military roles. The famous US Band Leader and composer Glen Miller disappeared in a Noresman over the English Channel during WWII. They have been used primarily for bush planes on both wheels and floats. Most of them being used in Canada. The Noorduyn company continues to this day in Montreal building aircraft interiors. Made with FSDS 2.6. Updated to Native FSX using Arno's Model Converter X. Includes custom panel bitmap by Ken Mitchel. Includes 3 paint schemes, Canadian, USAF and Bush Flying Unlimited. Full moving parts including Water rudders and opening doors. Features a fully functional VC. Dynamics based on Fred Banting's DH Beaver.

Thanks to Dave Eckert for his pilot figure, radial engine and 3 blade prop files which saved me a considerable amount of time building this plane. I also want to thank Fred Banting for his Beaver flight dynamics that I used as the starting point for this projects flight dynamics. I want to thank Steven Grant for his propeller bitmap, and Also to Ken Mitchel for his terrific Panel bitmap.

Very nice! I have been looking forward to this.

However, when spawned in P3dv4.5, it starts buried up to the bottom of the fuselage in either water or land, and can't be started and flown. This happens with both the original and updated version.

Like the earlier wheeled version, about half of the gauges have to be replaced with ones from 64-bit cab files in order to show up in P3dv4 also, but that's something a user can do.

This version also sank half way on my computer running FSX-SE. I still have the old version modified by Nor-Cal prop club which works fine on my setup. So I copied and pasted the contact points from the old one and now works fine. If you want to try these contact points here they are.

    Thanks for the contact points
You can't take the sky from me...

Yes, thanks for those contact points. They do work great.

There are two remaining issues as far as using in P3Dv4 are concerned. First, a couple of the skins that are provided, "BFU" and "USAF", are provided as 8-bit bmp files which screws up the specularity and results in excessive brightness. If you have imagetool, just convert these to DXT5 format and save with their existing names and bmp extensions. The textures for the base skin "C-NORS" are already in this format and work fine.

Second, I edited the panel.cfg file to replace gauges taken from the 32-bit p47d and f4u1a gau files, as well as the extra-300 file which I don't have. I think I now have a full panel, using only gauge containers referenced or provided in Brian's package. Below is my replacement text for VCockpit01 and VCockpit02. You don't need to touch the other virtual cockpit panels. You could do something similar to replace the gauges in the 2d cockpit, if you're into that sort of thing.

    OK, time to go flying!

Check out Mike Pook's updated panel over at Simviation. This is the one I use on mine. For me his panel look's more realistic. Robert

Oh yeah you are right, those panel textures help a lot, that is much better. I didn't realize Mr Pook had worked his magic on this one.
